IS having TestAmenT as an opening band a bad choice for Anthrax?

what i see is that testament thou a great band always sounded to me like light metallica back in the day im talking 86-89. but if you want i would rather replace death angel with overkill or do a mini 4 group thing with testament, anthrax, overkill, and accept now there would be a mosh fest.....lol

Testament is way heavier and more brutal than Metallica ever was. Testaments early albums were more like Metallica but in recent history their shit has been much heavier and more brutal. Watching them live now is probably like what watching Metallica live was like back during the Master of Puppets era but on steroids

No. Puppets era Metallica WAS Metallica on steroids. Testament may have Skolnick who is a great technical player, but he'll never match the prowess and style of someone like Cliff Burton.

Well and Alex is a guitar player, cliff is a Bass player. Quite a bit of difference. Testament is much heavier than Metallica ever was. But I'd sure love to go back in time and be at a Master of Puppets headlining club tour!

Greg Christian isn't exactly a slouch:

Greg Christian is a great bass player. It's too bad he is a crack head. He was on some serious shit the other night. He has had drug problems and from the way he looked the other night he is back on it. Quite sad. He is a nice guy I hope the best for him

I think Testament are the best pure thrash band in the world right now. I can't wait for their new CD.

What about Hetfield, he just had that X-factor in abundance more than anyone else in metal in the 80s. Hetfield was the man, in his time, prob best frontman in the world

Hetfield was definitely one of the best. It's really amazing he is the same dude now that sang on the pre black album records. Hetfield is terrible live now, almost a shell of his former selfaaaaahhhh. Chuck Billy still sounds the same as he did back in the day... so does Joey.... Joey in San Diego sounded better than I have ever heard him sound.

Yep, his vocals are a completely different delivery now of course, no rasp at all :( I know he blew his chords back in the 90s.

Joey sounds good live, says dumb shit to the crowd tho.

Chuck's good too, and great at air guitar. I prefer his gutteral vocals to the deep, clean vocals he did on the earlier albums

I thought Joey was really cool with the crowd actually. In fact that was one thing people were talking about afterward outside was how great he was at interacting with the crowd etc.

I think whats great about Chuck is he can actually sing really good like in this:

and this:

and this:

And then get deep in songs like this:

and this:

Those that say Testament doesn't have much diversity they are retards.

There are not many thrash bands that can compete on the same level as Testament. The Legacy, The New Order, Practice What You Preach, Souls of Black, The Gathering, Low, Demonic, The Ritual, Formation of Damnation.. those are a lot of really great albums with a lot of diversity but all heavy as balls (except the Ritual)

The vocals in Legacy and Serenity sound like shit.

This is better:
