It's gonna have to be mind blowing or fuck it - Opeth

The only weak spot on Ghost Reveries was the Grand Conjuration, cause it reminds me of a metalcore song, besides that it's flawless...I really can't see why many people don't love that album

Ha, I disliked it for the same reason when I had first heard it. I got over it though since now I am sucker for chugs and such.

Opeth is the only band that can bring me back to metal...but GR and WS were huge dissapointments :'( ..anyway i hope for deliverance/bwp days to come back

Watershed... So much potential, not what it should be. I love burden. GR is much better, chuggy or not. It's nice to hear Opeth experimenting with other stuff. Still Life and BWP are my classics already. :)

I really hope they don't follow the style of Watershed, what a complete let down that album was. I tried over and over with multiple listens and I just don't like it at all.

Hopefully with Stephen Wilson back in the picture well get more of the BWP style back in their music.

Keyboardist Per Wiberg has been relieved of his duties in Opeth as part of a mutual decision with the band. Keyboard duties on upcoming tours will be handled by a musician who is already rehearsing with the band. Said musician’s identity will be released at a later date.

Vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt released the following statement about the matter: “Well, it’s been somewhat of a revolving door of members during the last couple of years, and now, Per is no longer a member. Mendez, Axe and Fredrik and I came to the decision that we should find a replacement for Per right after the recordings of the new album, and this came as no surprise to Per. He had, in turn, been thinking about leaving, so you could say it was a mutual decision. There’s no bad blood, just a relationship that came to an end, and that’s that. We wish Per the best, and he did a splendid job recording keyboards for the last record, which stands as his final recording with Opeth.”

Opeth remain hard at work on their next album, which follows up 2008’s critically acclaimed Watershed. The album is due out this Fall on Roadrunner Records.

This leaves little doubt in my mind that Mike isn't a total egotistical control freak now. I don't know how any of the guys could stand that . .. . . it always seems like he's trying to save some face, and make his band seem like a democracy while always retaining a perfect image of the band. Like, we never get in fights, everyone that leaves is cool with the decision, and so on

Something recent I read (can't find it now) has Steven Wilson saying something along the lines of "Don't expect anything metal from the Opeth new album, but it's not going to be like damnation either" I'm sad to see Per leave, I thought his work, on GR at least, was amazing

well if that's the case, then i'm very excited about the record, his death metal stuff is played out, some prog stuff with clean vocals sounds awesome
