Jaska or joey?

o and if you bunch of complete retards who claim Jaska is good wana actually here some ACTUAL GOOD metal drumming that will blow your little minds away then listen to-

Akercocke:- words that go unspoken, deeds that go undone (whole album)

or

Decapitated:- Nihility

Jaska is a very good drummer.. so is Joey. But I couldn't compare the two, they are both exceptional, atleast Jaska has maintained his talent, I think Joey has gotten worse.

Your a dumshit, Joey is a lot better drummr than Jaska (even tho I like Bodom more) and no Neil pert is not the best drummer ever. For a start danny Carey from Tool kicks the shit out of him, not to mention about a million Jazz drummers. Go learn what your talking about before you post bullshit.. k thanks

Don't go around calling anyone a dumbshit, idiot. I've seen the solos of both Jaska and Joey, Joey can't do much more than some decent double bass. Jaska isn't all that more impressive, but at least he does something. Jaska has more interesting beats, Jaska doesn't wear a mask... I highly doubt there's some amazing technical ability Joey's hiding in his solos, nor is he likely capable of some crazy syncopation. Again, Jaska's not that much better, but the fact remains he's better. What argument can you possibly have for Joey? That wearing a mask is a good thing?

You know, while I'm not the greatest Rush fan, nor am I familiar with Peart's work, I am aware that he's a great drummer. Disregarding his solos momentarily, when you have people like Mike Portnoy doing a Rush tribute, you know you're a good drummer. Danny Carey? You're gonna have to make a better argument than that. The guy's pretty fucking good, but he's certainly no drum god. And which jazz drummers exactly? Give me names, and songs, and solos, instead of trying to sound like some fucking smartass who knows more than anyone else. In fact, you're right - there are plenty of jazz drummers that are playing on a whole different level... though I wouldn't be so sure that it's beyond Peart, after all most of the prog people have formal jazz training, and even if not, they're usually fans. The original Dream Theater met at Berklee, as did Vai and Satriani... Either way, yes, there are plenty of jazz drummers that can play better than anything Peart's shown us - but you probably don't know that, you've probably heard it from someone else. So please, shut the fuck up. And learn English while you're at it...

Oh, and I may as well contribute to the "wanna hear some great drumming?" part of this thread.

holdsworth rules!

Remember that Jaska was never an Extreme Metal drummer like the blasting dudes from Nile or Cryptopsy. His style is totally different so it's hard to compare it to Extreme Death Metal.

If Jaska wants, he could learn all this crazy blastbeat stuff and he can play stuff which wouldn't be easy to play for some of the drummers mentioned above.

Everybody who wants to hear Jaska doing some blastbeats again, check out this Evemaster song with him on drums: http://www.vortexmotions.com/evemaster/songs/MMIV_6_epistelium.mp3

Jaska played Flesh And The Power It Holds, 1000 Eyes, Without Judgement and Lack of comprehension with Norther on a Death tribute gig. I guess that speaks for itself.

Joey is fast, but speed does not equal talent. However, he does have some good double-bassing and is probably the only member of Slipknot that isn't incompetent. He also provided a brief "documentary" of Deicide in the booklet of their "Best of..." album. But his drum solo is the recent live album didn't really display any REAL talent. Jaska isn't AMAZING by any means, but at least he knows what he's doing and does more than play fast. He seemed especially good in AYDY, particularly in "In Your Face" and "T,L,AS". In the long run, Joey is faster, but Jaska is more talented. :loco:

okay, da hast du Recht, but the drums in that song sound triggered...

The Drum-Solo he played on the last Germany tour in Cologne was not bad, but it wasn't kickass. And I don't say that because he didn't play fast...

vedde interesting....yeah joey is slacking off from the early years, other good drummers are from in flames, cradle of filth, as I lay dying and other numerous bands. I still love jaska, now almost more than joey. His feet work is his main attraction, he's pretty fast with his snare-tom fill, and his cymbaling is second to none. Jaska I promote you to an equal to joey after watching some random concert drumming, I love ya alot more.

You know, it would be much easier if we all agreed to realize that when someone says "Joey sucks donkey dick," what he means is "IMHO, Joey sucks donkey dick," so we wouldn't have people whining about their entitlement to a stupid opinion.
