I have Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk on.....and this just gets me everytime. Saddens me because that he is no longer with us, and that he was so creative at what he did. He had so much to say and just left us way too goddamn early. I personally enjoy everything he did and wish I could have been into him sooner when he was still alive, but at least now I can understand and witness what he truely put his heart and soul into.

Hopefully other Jeff Buckley fans can come into this thread and say what they feel about his work and the man himself.

Cheers!

oh man, read "... And I couldn't awake from the nightmare that sucked me in and pulled me under".... irony sat in...

i need that album so badly.... he was a diamond in the rough....

Discovered him recently and also am sad I never listened to him while he was still alive... but I totally love his music already! Every song has that special 'something' but I must say I'm specially in love with 'Lover, you should've come over'. I still have to listen to a whole lot more of his work but so far I enjoy it very much :)

I also discovered him (too) late, only in March last year.. I picked up "Grace" in the 'special offer' section of some recordstore and I really, REALLY like it. It's indeed such a damn shame he didn't live to make more music, just think about what he might have come up with were he to live, argghh! So sad..

Sketches is also great, though I must say I much prefer disc 1.

Actually when "Grace" came out I had heard it....I knew this old hippy guy who was big into Tim Buckley.....his father. His father also died young from a heroin overdose after recording very little, his voice was very similar to jeffs. Unfortunately I didnt like Grace at the time because I was way too angry for it.....and of course when TD came out I rediscovered Jeff Buckley with a whole new light.

I just downloaded the song ''Hallelujah'' and i gotta say that it's pretty damn good. Recommend me the best song's to download and the best album to buy, please?

Well there's only one official album, Grace. And Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk are recordings that he was using for the next studio album, but alas, tragedy happened and the second album was never put out. It's still a great buy nonetheless. I'd say just get them both, you won't be dissapointed.

He is not depressive but somehow sad...He is great...I think Katatonia must cover Dream Brother or Forget Her...I would die to hear those from Renkse's voice...Especially Dream Brother...Oh god such a beautiful and sad song.

I think I can safely say that Jeff Buckley had the greatest voice I have ever heard. I mean, those damn vocal chords of his - flawless, just flawless! Listening to his voice always brings a calmness to my soul.

But yeah, he was a brilliant musician and songwriter.

These are my favourite songs from him, which always stood out the most for me. They are absolutely brilliant! I like it all, but if I would recommend buckley to anyone i'd mention these songs;

Vancouver (My Sweetheart the Drunk)
Dream Brother (Grace)
-----^----these here being my all-time faves
Lilac Wine
Last Goodbye
Morning Theft
Everybody Here Loves You
Lover, You Should've Come Over
The Sky Is A Landfill
Hallelujah
Grace

What...a...talent. And you know, I have Katatonia to thank for this. If it wasn't for tonight's decision, chances are i would have never known about him.

I played "Love you should've come over" for Angelina on piano a few month ago, but she can't remember.
But I'd be glad to play it once again, now that you know Jeff :)
Maybe I should record it, so you all can hear it, but it's a tough one to sing and I don't have Jeff's gift of singing.

Yeah, his singing voice was very, very gifted. I especially love his voice on the Live in Chicago DVD. The things he could do...wow!

Listening to his voice always brings a calmness to my soul.

To me too! It's nice to lay down in bed at night while listening to Jeff... it's always nice.
I also have almost same songs as you as my faves, including Opened Once. Morning Theft and Last Goodbye are very nice and I love them too.

Markus: I can't remember well but I do remember a lil bit... and you don't sing bad at all. I think you really should go on and record it, that'd be cool!

yeah, last goodbye is just a great song.... specially this one line hehe:
"You know it makes me so angry cause i know that in time I will only make you cry, this is our last goodbye"....

sad indeed...

Hehe, it's always nice to listen to any good music that way, but I do know what you mean...with Jeff it just feels more soothing. The mood of his music/voice totally fits that sort of atmosphere in particular.
And "Opened Once" - aye, I just KNEW I was going to forget at least one song from my list. It's a highly emotional one, too.

Just read on Brazilian Rolling Stone magazine that a movie about his life is going to be made

Love Jeff, always will :)

Wow, are you certain of this? I mean, is it a sure-thing? I once read somewhere that Brad Pitt came up to Jeff's mother and wanted approval of making a movie based on his life, and that HE would play as...:erk: Jeff. Not surprisingly, she clearly declined...in fact, she said she wouldn't approve of any of this so long as she is alive. So yeah, I'm just wondering....

Hugot: Yeah, those are some fine lyrics.

Aye, to think what he could have given the world had he have lived...just a little longer. I have heard he had happy and sad moods on the fly. Hmm, no one really knows what happened during that evening swim...

The article mentioned the possibility of Brad Pitt playing the role of Jeff, which doesn't really make sense...anyway it is a sure thing, but it will take a some time until the movie is complete
