Just ordered: Peavey JSX

Hmm...well come to think of it, you did get the first run of them man. Mine is brand new 2006 model...I'm not worried. My 5150 combo was the first run they did with the signature plates instead of block letters...so it was old, and it never gave me a single problem. My 5150 head is the signature plate as well, I think around the same production time as the combo I use to have, and with that as well no problems.

Yeah...I thought it was some sort of limited edition or somebody ordered it that way. Anyway, I had 2(new) heads....both JSX's. They both blew up on me...actually one just fizzed out. Peavey proved that they were unreliable to me...and I had a 5150 II for years without ANY incident...all in all I loved the sound of the JSX and I may give one another go in the future.
Here's a clip that I recorded with it a while back.

I remember that clip. I searched the old thread countless times to listen to it before i bought the amp haha. It's a shame you didnt get a chance to use decent equipment to record it. I'm still working on clips....well, i want to, but time and lack of practice are stopping me from it.

The JSX is an excellent amp. Stick some 6L6's in it and it can easily sit next to a 5150. I can pretty much get any tone I want out of it with enough tweaking.

You keep making excuses dude! How long have you had the amp for now? Just shove a mic in front of it and play something!

For the sake of being able to face you tomorrow at school, here it is:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=575479

Two clips:
Dead Inside- Used the Crunch channel. 4 tracks. Playing on the leads sucks alot, slightly less on the rhythms. This was the first proper riff i recorded with the JSX about a month ago. Previous to this I had recorded the intro to Diary by Iced Earth, which wasnt really much of a riff to show anything. The Dead Inide clip had some C4 and slight high shelf added to it if memory serves right.
Zombie Ritual- Used the Ultra channel during a time when i was obsessed with the riff. No EQ or C4, just verb on the leads.

Signal chain: Jackson PS-2 -> JSX ->Framus Dragon 4*12 -> SM57 ->Presonus TubePre (w/ no tube gain) -> Cubase

Enjoy. Comment. Critisize. Tell me to go practice my ass off for another three years and come back.

Daniel

Before I got my Protools...I used my trusty Sony headphones to record that clip. LOL

Yeah. I was surprised how decent it sounded for that technique.

Haha, thanks for the kind words...I knew spending $150 USD for a set of headphones would be useful someday.

That's a little sarcasm.

*bump*

Update: I'm going to be picking it up tomorrow morning from the FedEx facility, at 9 a.m. rather than wait until fucking 5 or 6 p.m. for a truck to deliver it to my doorstep. :D

I think I'm going to get one of these sometime in the future when I have money. I've been finding some new ones and some used ones for under $1000 and even around the $750 area used.

I'm planning on mixing it with a BOSS GT-PRO and using the GT-PRO as a channel switcher for the amp as well as effects. I just have to figure out how to do all of it. I'm going to set it up so the head can go wherever I want it to go instead of the effects after the head...I gotta figure out if thats possible.

I'm excited...I was going to mix the GT-PRO with a mesa 2:100, but I like this idea a lot more.

Yeah, I pretty much impulse-purchased mine used for $700. Now it's spoiled me for all other used amp pricing. "You want $1500 for a VHT 100 CL? Gee, I'd love to, but it's no $700 JSX." :loco:

ieko - Lol love your title, hahaha. I'm defo turning my badge over when I get mine in a few hours. I'll be another proud XSr™ owner. :headbang:

We should get together behind the scenes, like on AIM or something and work up some hype behind the XSr™ badging. "UM.com exclusive Peavey amp"
