Katatonia were once a Death Metal band

You dont even know what u are talking about. Are you drunk? If not shut up you fucking stupid newbie.

Like a lost soul escaping to another world in the fine mist of morning, this CD is an escape to worlds unknown. Desperately clinging to darkness, it's a cry of desperation, carried on the wings of a purple shroud, ever falling deeper into your emotions. Melodies of death sounding sweeter than the nectar of souls we long to seek, a broken heart, a tear falling slowly across the cheek of the lost ones....
OK. Enough of that silly shit. It just gets complaints anyhow. I guess my writing is more appreciated when I talk about raping nuns or f**cking your sister or something, so here we go for another batch of totally useless information.

This CD is the only shot you get to hear Jonas Renske scream Death-like vocals on a full- length KATATONIA-record and it's way way way more convincing than his critically acclaimed vocal nirvana (NOT) on their newest platter "Last Fair Deal Gone Down."

This also has some of the most emotional and incredible string-weaving from the melodic Doom-master Blackheim, a.k.a. Anders Nyström. With absolute classic riffage in "Without God" and the darker-than-most instrumental "Tomb Of Insomnia," this CD goes from slow and sad to slower and even more sad.

With the ever-present Dan Swanö at their side, this is the last mark of this era for KATATONIA, with their two previous EP's "Jehova Elim Meth" and "For Funerals To Come" being the starting block to the now infamous PARADISE LOST-worship. A classic in all manners of the word, this was a spark of genius only soon to be heard with the help of OPETH's Mike Akerfelt we would hear on their next release "Brave Murder Day," where they learned how to weave their songs even more brilliantly.

However, the dead air on this CD, along with very criminally sad-like alone-flavoured production, is exactly what this CD is about. Like a chapter from the DARKTHRONE-bible, this CD's production, though good, was meant to sound saddened. Like the aforementioned DARKTHRONE usually means to sound cold as ice, KATATONIA means to sound desperate in their darkness.

Without going into much more detail, because this is starting to sound a lot like a respectable review and we can't have that, I will say I cannot picture my Metal-collection without this CD. It is by all means as important as the CD that obviously inspired this band beyond belief, PARADISE LOST "Gothic".

Now just for liner and ending notes, I will ramble off some useless and unnecessary curse words and degradations toward your mother and god and nuns and Gabe............................
