Katatonia is underrated

I have every release by Katatonia except Jhav Elhoeim Meth (or whatever its called) and whatever the single/EP is from Viva Emptiness and they're all brilliant, even the EPs. I think they're a great band and all these wishy washy Anathema fans are really missing something. I love Jonas' lyrics. Everything Katatonia has done is brilliant and they are not overrated (whereas Anathema, in their new form, are)

Ummm... Judgement is better than anything Katatonia has done since Discouraged Ones and A Fine Day to Exit is easily on par with everything afterwards, if not better.

Anathema >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Katatonia

It's not even worth comparing.

In the world of dark metal KATATONIA are well known and get lots of press and attention............look at forum here and number of posts, they are not an "underrated" band.

My point is that they should be known outside the world of dark metal, since their music does have a little commercial appeal IMO.

They're both very different, and both very good, they shouldn't be compared. I certainly enjoy Katatonia more than Anathema though.

I Disagree, I feel since Judgement Anathema have trod the paths tread by a band called Radiohead, they still write good music and I still respect them to a certain degree but i feel Katatonia are superior in terms of lyrics, songwriting, originality and creating a depressive atmosphere. I loved all their albums up until A fine Day, now at worst i fear they're becoming sellouts, at best unoriginal. Anathema have little originality to offer us. anyway thats my view on Anathema, a once great band.

The main reason I didn't like Katatonia at the beginning was because I'd heard they sounded like Anathema so I expected something different, and it's not true, they're completely different bands.

I do like Anathema a bit more than Katatonia though, better lyrics and just "deeper" music IMO.
