Legendary Steven Slate Kick 10 sample

hahaha!!!!!!!!
funniest thread i ever read.....
you guys are hilarious! it's like you have a picture for everything!!!!

I make it sound awesome by doing nothing to it.

Hey yeah! I've been thinking about trying reverse psychologism to a snare. If it sounds shitty, just let it be and it will behave like it's god. If the kick is a turd, just ignore it and it'll be pissed that you like another and will behave like a decent little douche. Geez, im doing nothing for now on. Making it jealous bitch!

I've never liked Kick10, and could never understand its popularity. I hear it on so many records.. even this morning it was mixed really loud on some song playing on KRock.

I originally made it to augment a kick I had in a mix that needed more lows and more snap. For processing, I eq'd (I think the actual drum is a Pearl Maple 22" kick) it with a rack made of a Pultec and two Neve Eqs.. most likely a 1073 and a 1081. I used a dbx 160 VU for compression and processed it right from the tape machine into Nuendo. The lows on that kick were because of that Pultec.. That was the best sounding Pultec I've ever heard.

I remember thinking "man this sample sounds nasty but mixes in great with other kicks".. But most people leave it alone and just go with it. I don't get it. I like more mids in my kicks personally. Kick10 came very close from never going on the original SSD disc, but 10 kicks sounded cooler than 9 kicks so I tossed it on there.

tchachingggggg $$. BTW i've been thinking, i have slate platinum but not trigger. I have all the threebillion samples on the library. But do i have to purchase TRIGGER so i can use slate samples on my projects that i want to just TRIG and not program the whole drums? If so then im very pleased to spent my rich ass.

Heya Steven, yeah laelty I been noticing it sounds weird by itself, I can never get it ti mix in well unless the guitars EQ is heavily scooped. Any suggestuions on a good kick to combe with Kick 10?
