Ok, so I've had a bit to drink tonight. But whatever, I gotta say this...
Dream Theater, no doubt awesome and talented musicians. But when they try to do anything heavy it is just destroyed by that gay ass Labrie. His voice is ok, pretty good even, when they are playing soft music, but when things are cranking he just sounds like a whiny homo. I'm listening to, ok, my friend is listening to "Voices" right now. I like that song a lot, but Labrie is just such a wuss, I hate him, he ruins DT imo. Sorry I had to rant, but I wanna get drunk and I am stuck right now because of a damn bunker drill.

Labrie = :tickled: <---- This guy is gay because he is pink.

:D

Hehe, I agree. DT made the biggest mistake when they employed that Barbara Streisand wannabe and turned into a mindless wankery band.
They made an excellent album When Dream and Day Unite, after that = zzzzzzzzzz.

K, im all for "opinions" on this forum so im not gonna flame Dado-x however much i'd like to.
**IMO**, Dream Theater are one of the best progressive bands out there. They have produced some of the greatest tunes and albums i have ever heard in me puff! SFAM being an excellent example! I cant believe someone could describe them as a "mindless wankery band"!!!! **IMO** Jordan smokes the pants off Pinnella any day. But i do kinda agree that Labrie's voice can be a tad annoying for some. It does grate me occasionally...it certainly doesnt ruin the band, the other awesome musicians in DT can hold their own. Go to any DT gig. Jaw-dropping stuff!

See, that's the typical DT-fan attitude. I don't care how amazing Rudess technique is or how many notes he can play per second. Songwriting is the thing that really matters to me, otherwise I'd listen to Shrapnel albums exclusively.

But i'm going to...

If you seriously feel that way, you must be fucking retarded.
Or maybe you don't even know what music is, yeah, LaBrie MAY sound A BIT EERIE SOMETIMES, but that does not give you any right to start bashing the greatest Prog-Band, or even band ever...
Lashing out comments like that is the most childish thing ever, c'mon man, how old are you??? 10?
Then grow up some, and come back when you have learned how to argument for your statements...
Stupid idiot posts like this really pisses me off...

See, that's the typical DT-fan attitude.

Yeah, and yours is the "I am a stupid fuck" attitude...
If you don't like DT keep it to yourself, or go bitching about it to a wall or something...
It might even have a few things to teach you...

Im with Satanic Rabbit and Dado-X. Russell sings millions of times better than Labrie. I hate when someone says: "SymphonyX is the little brother of DT" or shit like that. I haver never been interested in DT music and its sad to see they cover Metallicas songs in their concerts.:ill:

Fee: If i were you, i wouldnt dare to say Jordan destroys Pinella, any way you dont even gave a reazon about it. My opinion: Pinella is as good as Jordan, the problem is that Pinella has not made any soloist album, and taking into account Pinella did study classical piano i can guarantee he has the level of Rudess, and he will show us his talent soon, becouse he is planing his first solo album....Pinella rules¡¡¡¡¡:hotjump: SymphonyX rules!!!!!!!!!:hotjump:

I like some Dream Theater, but A LOT of their songs just fail to interest me in any way. I have "Falling Into Infinity", and I FUCKING HATE IT. IMO it sucks, blows, sucks, and I can't believe that "the greatest band of all time" could put out something this boring and uninspired. I stil can't find anything interesting at all about this album, I don't think I will ever understand the praise it gets. However, I have SFAM and I like most of it. The instrumentals on it like Overture 1928 and Dance of Eternity is the kind of stuff I want to hear from the band. But then they go into these long, boring ballads that I end up skipping every time. Bah, I'm done, this thread is stupid. :zombie:

I can understand why some people might not like Labrie's vocals (though I'm okay with them), but I can't figure out how anybody could like him less than that "singer" on DT's debut release. That fellow just did a very, very bad imitation of Geddy Lee. I love the songs on that CD, but it can be hard to listen to because of the Geddy-Lee-with-his-jeans-too-tight vocals.

Yeah, and what WAS the deal with "Falling Into Infinity?" Were they trying to sound more like the mainstream? Or were they just really tired? I try to listen to it every so often, and I don't understand why Dream Theater had to record it. For the most part, it could have been anybody. If anybody knows what they were trying to do, I'd like to hear. (I'd even be okay with a "They thought that it would sell better" answer.)

DT were about to break up in about the 97/98 period because their record company weren't letting them do what they wanted to do. Well, FII was released in 97 so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the result.

I was drunk but I stand by my opinion. DT is a great band with a shitty singer. Because I believe that vocals are just as important as the other instruments, I cannot listen to them as much. It's my right to have this opion. It's everyone's right to have their own opinion. I fucking fight for that right. I fucking fight for the right to protest, to bash bands, to hate politicians, and everything else. That's it. That's all it is.

Obviously you weren't too drunk to type it out with no spelling mistakes.

Um, ok...I could be crippled, drunk, and blindfolded...and still type with no spelling mistakes. If I had been sober, I would not have put all that stuff in there about gays and homos, because there is no need for that.

My apologies if I offended anyone by using those terms.

Luis, dont dare tell me what to do "if you were me", this forum is here for ppl to express their "OWN" opinions. Saying that, i personally feel Rudess is better than Pinnella because his playing always shines through in 99% of DT's songs. The only keyboard solo from Pinnella that has really floored me is the guitar/keyboard duel on "Of Sins and Shadows" and when i saw them in London a few weeks ago performing this track i was still totally gobsmacked.
DT and SyX are both fan-fkn-tastic bands, im not gonna bitch about either one of them.

All I'm hearing is "blah blah blah". Why don't you go and share your wonderfully informed opinions with some real people, rather than names on a screen? Blah blah, Dream Theater sucks, blah blah. Fuck that shit! Whether Dream Theater sucks or not, all you're doing is coming online to stir some shit on a forum that deserves a decent discussion rather than lame-ass slagging. I don't even know who I'm talking to here, but read this and think, you sad fuckhead.
