I wouldn't call Cowboys thrash, maybe one or two songs on there could be thrash, three or four at most. But a lot of it is pretty definitive "heavy metal" like in the vein of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
I hate the hatred for Pantera on this board. Frankly I think they're the best band ever. Phil's lyrics kick the shit out of everything else. Dime's solos bore me, but I'ven never heard anyone make riffs half as awesome as Pantera, let alone for a band that plays verse-chorus.
As for racist bands... pffft. Pantera isn't 1/10th as racist as Burzum or Darkthrone. Being a racist doesn't stop you from making better music than all the tolerant folks.
I don't think anyone accused Pantera of racism...we was talking about Hatebreed.
Phil's lyrics are frequently ridiculous ("Walk on home, boy")
But sometimes pretty good. I generally just don't like Far Beyond Driven, which happens to be a repository of ridiculous lines such as "I fucked your girlfriend last night"
I also resent the hatred for them. Some of Dimebag's solos are cool, some suck. People tend to either love Pantera or hate them...I just like them.
Badass riffing, not gonna lie to you. Also, I thought it was pretty cool that they could make the word "love" into a something angry. Sometimes the vocals and lyrics are excellent.
Phil goes fucking ridiculously high on Shattered. I was impressed.
Cowboys...
Lesse, CfH itself is definitely thrash. Primal Concrete Sledge...pretty thrashy...Psycho Holiday, pretty thrash. Heresy is definitely thrash. Cemetery Gates is a ballad, so it doesn't count...Domination is definitely thrash. Shattered isn't very thrash. Clash With Reality is definitely thrash. The Sleep isn't very thrash. Medicine Man, Message in Blood, and The Art of Shredding are pretty thrashin'
