So, what do you all think about the situation were facing with illegal immigration and the possible amnesty illegal immigrants will recieve? Me I oppose it. Any man or women from any walk of life should be given the opportunity to come to this great country but it should be done legally. I also don't think amnesty should be given to those that are here already. Anyone else care to discuss or have an opinion?

Some are forbidden to move out of the country, some are under torture and cant do it legally etc

I don’t like arguing politics on message boards, especially soiling the message board of my favorite metal band, but this issue is just too much for me to sit back and not add my two cents on.

I am an immigrant myself, first in my family born in the United States. I am proud as can be about my Croatian heritage, but I am also proud and honored that God has blessed me with the gift of being born and raised in what I truly believe is the greatest country on God’s green earth, the United States of America.

I am all for immigration, this is a country founded on immigrants and were it not for immigrants The USA would not be what it is today. That being said the problem we are talking about is illegal immigration, respect for the law and the protection of our nation’s borders and way of life.

As I said I am the child of an immigrant, really we are all the children of immigrants. Naturalized citizens and people who went through the proper process to move here and adopt the United States as their new homeland.

The illegal immigrants and the supporters are most definitely not like this, just take a look at the rallies in support of illegal immigration that have been littering the country the past few weeks these people are not interested in becoming Americans and adopting the American way of life. They wave Mexican flags while wearing their Che Guerra tee’s, they send billions of dollars home, and they feel like they should be allowed to come and go as they wish.

While we as Americans, legal American citizens, are paying more for hospital stays because illegals get emergency room service and more, and don’t pay. We pay more for taxes, as we need to build more schools to accommodate the illegals children, more prisons. Illegals make up 40% of the gangs in Los Angeles. We are paying more for car insurance as many are involved in accidents and have no insurance.

When we go to vote in many parts of the country are ballots are now in 2 languages, because these illegal immigrants don‘t care to learn our language, they don‘t care about our country, our way of life, or us. This is America, learn English, that is the language of this country, and it is the language that will help get and keep a job.

I have nothing against the Mexicans and other Latin Americans, I welcome them to the United States, new blood into the system is and always has been great for the union. But this wave of new blood is disease infected, infected by people who have no respect for the law, no respect for America by coming into our country through illegal means.

This really pisses me off. It pisses me off that President Bush, who I have been a supporter of does not want to do anything about this issue, neither does the House, the Senate or any politician Republican or Democrat.

It doesn’t seem like anyone has the balls to do what is right for America in this situation, not just our elected officials but the citizens as well. Soon we will have no borders, and no will to fight illegal immigration, and eventually no stomach to defend ourselves against anything.

And then the brave and honorable men and women of the minutemen project, who are law abiding citizens and operating well within their legal rights as Americans are having their activities monitored and then reported to Mexican officials by our own government.

What the hell is this country coming to?

Alot of these people don't have the time or the money to do it legally. And seeing how relaxed U.S. is about cracking down, they see this as an opportunity. To come to a better land to earn a decent living. I do have a problem with people not knowing the language. Also, there are 14 million illegal immigrants. I know some of them and they're all hard working people. You'd be suprised at how many legal immigrants sell drugs and join gangs etc etc. George Bush can't do anything without getting criticized. He confronts an issue dead on and rightly so for once and then his own supporters lash out at him.

I say give amnesty to the ones that are here and build a wall in order to enforce immigration.

Alot of anti-immigrant propaganda is fueled by racism too. Suppose all mexicans were white and blonde haired?? Ask yourself honestly how that would change your opinion.

If you're opposed to immigrants, stop eating. Who do you think all the farmers hire? Restaurants..dairies, ranches, farms. Illegal immigrants are everywhere and when you purchase something, you are indirectly supporting them.

And it's also racist when people say criminilize the employees that are illegal. What about the american employers knowingly employing them?? Why do you think they should get less heat? Because they're white and therefore all white people are innocent??

All this opposition, I'm sure is fueled by racism. Vicente Fox said that mexicans are coming to this country to do jobs that not even the blacks are willing to do. He recieved so much criticism for this comment even though he was just speaking his mind.

Making every single one of these 14 million illegal immigrants unable to get a job would make every single one an outlaw. It would be like letting out 14 million felons out of prison on the loose from coast to coast. And all the while police, homeland security agents, and military are being used to control them, don't be surprised if Osama strikes again.

Oh and I know a dude who's in Iraq right now. I'm sure he's not the only one in this situation. He's got lots of family here in the states that work with fake documenation. They work and own a home. Now the dude is fighting for a country that won't even support his family.

I'm proud to be an american but I really hate it when we ignore history and fail to learn from our mistakes. I think I may join Justin's pro-gun stance. I just may need to arm myself.

Yeah that’s sad. Sad in the fact that those are reasons to give them an o.k. when it comes to disrespecting our countries laws. I’m sorry bought “I can’t afford to come here legally.” and “I don’t have the time to go through the proper channels.” are not only pathetic excuses but large reasons on why people with that attitude should not be allowed in.

I’m not naïve enough to think we can just send ‘em all back. But any so called “amnesty” and I hate that f’n term should come with the provisions of paying back taxes.

That is just a cop out, mostly left wing media driven garbage. Yes, of course there are ignorant racist fucks in this country, but I refuse to believe that the majority of as you put it “anti-immigrant propaganda” is fueled by racism.

First of all, if you want to use the term propaganda, just look at the day that was decided to hold the big rally, May Day. Look at these photos from rallies.

Supporting the socialist agenda of the pro-illegal immigration crowd will only weaken our country, while being a slap in the face to legal immigrants.

Secondly, I myself as well as most reasonable Americans are not anti-immigrant… we are anti ILLEGAL Immigrant.

Newsflash, they are already outlaws. They compromised our borders by breaking the law and entering the country without going through the proper and legal channels.

And if you want to talk about terrorists, with our lack of proper border control, do you know how freakin’ easy it would be for a terrorist to get into Mexico with materials that could kill millions and then bring those materials over our compromised borders.

There is no history here to be ignored, the only thing here being ignored is American laws, values, and tradition.

Immigrants are good. Illegal immigrants are not. It is not racist, it’s true.

Being a man who enjoys cheap fruit I am well aware how dependent our economy is on the illegal workers.

Fucking send them all home! That's all I have to say.

Word! I'm so sick and tired of those fuckers comming to America and steeling jobs from us. I wanted to be a bus boy at TGIFridays and I can't becuase some dam Mexican took that job from me.

I'm glad immigration is finally on the front burner on issues in this country. It was ignored far too long.

It really doesn't suprise me that there would be anti-immigrant sentiment on a metal message board.

"Steeling"? You mean "Stealing". How do you like having your english spelling corrected by someone not born in the states?

I think in your case, I'd have given it to the Mexican as well. :zombie:

Anti-ILLEGAL Immigrant. There is a difference. My parents are Immigrants, came here legally, learned the language and adopted the ways.

I'm not against people who come here legally, be them white, brown, black, yellow or any other color under the son. And I'm not against people from Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Poland, Albania, The Czech Republic, India, Turkey, or wherever in the world Immigrants want to come here as long as they come here LEGALLY.

Legal immigration yes.
Illegal no.

Now, I can sympathize with why certain people would want to get here no matter what, but once your here you need to deal with OUR society and laws.
Therefore, there should be no amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants. FUCH THAT...that's a slap in the face to people who have busted their asses, spent big bucks and jumped through flaming hoops to get here legally.

Illegals demonstrating their displeasure at rally's....kind of cool that we have a society that allows such free will. On the other hand I'd prefer a more 'hardline' response from the government.

How do you feel about mexicans.?wouldn't be the same if all whites for ex were stealing jobs from everyone else or blacks...I totally understand where your coming from but just a little narrow minded about the whole sit..not all job places are there mexicans....

I just knew I would get a good reaction on this topic. Some good points made, some not so good points made. Sorry Whitey131 you do not get a gold star today. Please go to the back of the line and try again tomorrow.

Just to add wherre I really do stand, an underpaid and illegal work force is part of our economy. Like child slave labor over seas, it's a fact of life that we all benifit from directly or indirectly. I'm sure there a solution but it's nowhere near as simple as "through them out of the country." If you can't see past that you a bit naive.

It's a part that needs to change...just like our economy has.

There's no way we could just kick out 11 million people overnight, but if we started a process of doing so, I think there would be all kinds of people clamoring to get legalized here. You'd basically be kicking people in the butt to get off their ass and do things legally.
I'm amazed at the amount of people that are on the illegal immigrants side of this issue.
As an American citizen I personally like to see the government enforce the laws that are in place. (yes, even there are others that aren't enforced as well as they should)

I agree, it needs to be gradual. There should be some grace perios and additional assistnace to help people get legal, then after that, your out. It's a tought call. Even with the gradual aproach the economy is going to get dinged, just in agriculture alone, it will be a snow ball effect of having to pay these at least minimum wage.
