It would help if you would fill out your user CP a little more. Actually it's pretty anoying when people can't be arsed to fucking fill in thier user CP info (so we know where on the fucking earth you are).

Where are you dude? Have you tried Ebay but had no luck, or do you want to avoid it all together? Do you need to try them before buying, or are you open to O/S shipping?
Let us know where you're from and any conditions of the purchase (budget, local sale, etc) that way if anyone here is looking to off-load one in the future they can keep you in mind.

I just don't understand how somebody could be so vague. It's very interesting.
That said, check out eBay, Craigslist or even places like Sam Ash (100% certain) and Guitar Center (not so certain) have a used gear area. Other than that, local pawn shops (my friend once scored a mint condition Soldano SLO100 - the OG 5150 - for $850!) and if you have any small local shops (like Jerry's Guitars or something) try there. I know you already said no eBay but...that's stupid. Taking that out of the equation you just lost like 95% of the chance you had in getting a deal on a used one. Good luck finding one though man, it'll be quite a journey without eBay.
Other than all that, there's not much anything else you can check out.

yea, i've been shopping around for a combo for a while now, and $550-600 is pretty typical for one in good condition. maybe as high as $700 for something immaculate.
I remember I got my combo for $600 + shipping a few years ago, and sold it last summer for the same

Well, when the 5150III came out the stupid old models went up a little (sucked).
Most of the time though you can get people to come down to $550 to 600 for a 5150.

Yeah for a head $600 is awesome. I've seen the combos sell for $400-$600 though. It's always good to find the unknowing pawn shop though. They get a 5150 from a crackhead for $100 and you get it for $200! There's one in every city. Memphis for example.

Around here, they sell *USED* 5150/6505 for almost the same price as *NEW* ones cost. I can't understand the logic behind that. And since "everyone else" sells them for almost new prices, no one will sell them at a reasonable price.

Hey, If somebody find a used 5150 head in a pawn shop at $200 and already have a 5150, could do me the favor of buy it for me?? i would even pay more so you get the extra $$$ hahaha.
