Looking for ORIGINALITY

I saw a band recently called Noctiferia.

Slovenian or Slovakian I think.

They are strange, the music is like a mix of Opeth and My Dying Bride.

Hard to describe, it sounds like things that other bands have done before but not all together, takes a bit from here and a bit from there and throws it together to make something new, kind of like Black-Doom as opposed to MDB's Death-Doom

Check out the song "Fond Of Lies" for a taste.
Noctiferia are really good. Good recommendation dude.

Negurã Bunget. You might have seen the heaps of praise thrown over their latest album "'N Crugu Bradului," and let me assure you it is worthy of pretty much all of it. Some of their earlier releases are even better, but perhaps less inventive.

It's like they, being an obscure band from Romania, never really received the news that relevant black metal died in the mid nineties.

You might also want to check out Skepticism if you haven't; their recently-released album "Farmakon" just might be a complete masterpiece, haven't really let it sunk in enough to decide yet. Anyway, you will not find another album that sounds much like it. If you like doom metal at all, it is a must.

Theres a french band called Comity, theyve got an album out called deus ex machina. Its wonderfully interesting, they try many things, some work , some dont- kinda of a cross between isis and neurosis, some death metal, samples, ambient passages, acoustic passages, sometimes just static, very interesting, lots of buildup though. They've got talent- it just hasnt all come together yet.

I like Cult of Luna- another neurosis inspired band- original though.

Old Man Gloom is quite good.

I'd like to add "Eternal" from Samael if you are into metal with techno elements. The same goes for Pain. Also check out Crimson 2 from Edge of Sanity,it includes a lot of prog, rock and death metal variations.
