If it hasn't been mentioned before. Infection, Dark Water and Uzumaki are awesome. For something more br00tal, Devil's Experiment, Flower Of Flesh And Blood, Android of Notre Dame, Mermaid And The Manhole and Cannibal Holocaust (the last is not one of the Guinea Pig films, but it is awesome)

I'd say The Descent and Amnityville Horror (new one) are the only ones that have made me remotely jump, I don't get scared easily.

I thought The Descent was pretty decent (aside from the generic scare tactics). It was more unsettling, and actually some of the parts without the creatures were more gripping.

A recent one that comes to mind is High Tension. The ending is typically French, but, it is a great horror-chase movie.

The ending is the typical generic crap. If I ever see another horror movie where the killer is a schizo and that's the twist, i'm gonna rip my eyes out.
