Lord of the rings

watched the dvd yesterday, very good the two towers looks even better. There is another release in november with 4 discs ie. the extra 30 mins of film and heaps of behind the scenes shit if only Anathema had a good live dvd out hint hint nudge nudge say no more!!

i couldn't help but notice that nobody mentioned the only things that i noticed that had been significantly altered in the transformation from book to film:

first, at the beginning of the film, the battle of dagorlad was depicted as having happened near to barad-dûr. in the books it took place outside the morannon, and the armies of mordor were entirely crushed there, resulting in sauron fleeing to his tower; a siege then ensued, lasting several years, which ended in the duel between sauron and elendil.

and here we have the other (to me) significant difference: in the book, elendil and sauron killed each other, and isildur cut the ring from sauron's lifeless body without taking part in the fight itself.

damn. even as i type this i have slight doubts... if anyone has 100% accurate information contrary to the above, please say so :)

it doesnt matter to me if its 100% accurate or not. its a good story and a good (slightly different) film. i thought the first ten minutes were boss.

They were really amazing...
I saw the preview of The 2Towers" and there will be more of this!!

i forgot to mention that i didn't mind the changes either. they suited the film just fine. and, after all, since lotr is just a subjective story recorded mostly by the hobbits in the legendary red book of westmarch from which it was transscribed into english (as the story goes ;-) historical fact and fictious narrative are inseparably entwined in it...

Hey guys, maybe some of you can help me.
I borrowed the DVD too, and watched the preview to the extended version, and I understood it that way, that the added 30 minutes were filmed after the normal shoot. But I've heard earlier, that there were a longer cut before the cinema version. What's true?

sorry i can't help you with this, i didn't watch the preview, cause i don't want to see the new scenes. But maybe it is both, post scenes and scenes which have been cut off. PJ maybe wanted to wait for the reaction of the fans before making this 30 minutes of extra material. It's just a guess.

But please don't tell me details from the preview!!!!:)

Cheers

Morpheus

I think the extended version will be released in november, not really sure. And the second movie on 18th december.

I think the wait is much too long!!!

Cheers

Hm,
I won't be that patient...as for the first part I watched it maybe 2 months before it was officially out and the quality was terrible...

Here in my area, we have ALL the movies 2-3 months before the official premiere dates(sometimes even earlier)...same with the software. They're screener copies for advertisement only downloaded from internet. Just there's a big hacker's society...BTW when the LOTR 2 is out I will let you know imediately and will give you links if you want to spend few days dl-ing it.

Hm no problem,
Just a correction "few days" or "a week" it depends...
about the download...
