Anyways I used to listen to a lot of popular music and some of it I still listen to.

I like female singer/songwriters ie Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Paula Cole etc
I like prog rock ie King Crimson, Pink Floyd, ELP etc
Some classic rock like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Doors etc is good
Radiohead and Mars Volta are really good.
