Definitly, I've been trying to dig into to alot of classics but I have to admit theres also a fair amount of good new stuff out there especially by classic bands.
I also like Devildriver and Pantera, personally I find no problem with them.
I'm working on a magazine that's almost entirely dedicated to praising new bands and albums, so I think that I'm qualified to share my opinion. I didn't mean to state it as a fact; I just wanted to elaborate on the fact that it's a widely held belief among 'underground' metal fans that 'the classics' are better than what's being put out today.
Well, yeah, if you're a hardcore old-school underground metal fan, you are obviously going to hold the belief that the classics are better. And a lot of the time they are, absolutely.
new releases are no lesser than classics since they have an evolved sound. Considering though those bands that take influence from older material and expand upon those ideas and structures rather than those just emulating a band you admire. (which is the gheyyy)
