You're right, so long as you don't want more out of a woman than food, sex, and silence.
He's right, though. It's not as simple as "fuck me, feed me, and shut the fuck up," but it does seem to be true that guys' desires are simpler when it comes to relationships. It's just a corollary of the fact that women are the more selective sex (they have to be, for plain biological reasons.) So as far as I'm concerned, there are a lot more hoops that men have to jump through. I even recall reading some article (wish I could remember where I saw it) that cited actual evidence that women tend to misjudge in predictable ways what they want.
And it's also what cold, hard experience shows me. Some girls think a little bit more like men, and they're a lot easier to deal with on a day to day basis. Last chick I dated was especially high maintenance. It is seriously a pain in the ass to have to interpret womanese all the time and stress out about if you've done or said yet another thing not deemed correct by the princess. When a girl bitches about gender roles and then tells you she wants you to treat her "like a lady" and that you were supposed to know that, she is a complicated mess and needs to get her thoughts straightened out, because that crap is annoying. Went off on a bit of a personal rant there. Sorry.
Anyway, moral: Ignore roughly half of what women you're dating say to you.
