Having once abided by the "no sex until a year" rule, I suppose this is an improvement for you. It's still backwards to me. I've been bedding LG for 2-3 weeks before I could safely call her my girlfriend.

I honestly see no benefit in abstaining for any period of time, unless you're both deeply religious or something. To me, if she's a slug in bed (or just isn't sexual), the relationship probably isn't gonna work. Sex is the glue that keeps things going well.
