Ok, ready to have your mind blown?
I'm probably one of the biggest amp whores on the planet, but even I keep telling people to not underestimate the influence of the cab....in fact I think the cab has a WAY bigger influence on the sound than the amp.
want proof?
well, here you go...
A 50% Marshall MS2 through the Mesa Rectifier cab, mic'd with a single sm57, no post EQ, other than HP/LP

so before you buy your next amp, you should probably think about getting some more good cabs

so true, cab makes the most difference when recording. i remember years back there was a test with a cheapo solid state wired into T75 and it sounded so damn good.

how did you wire it to the cab?

Sounds freaking cool.

I only have three amp heads for eight cabinets (not counting the bass 2x15 I just borrowed to a friend).

Am I doing this right? :D

Wow. That sounds damn good for what it is. Pretty sweet in general no matter what it is, really.

You should try this with a Metal Zone and post the results lol

That's why I'm now gigging with a Line 6 Spider IV 150 watt head through my Recto 4x12 :D The versatility and convenience of built-in FX and patch saving is too good to pass up, and it still roars!

there are several ways...
sonically best would be to use it as a preamp into a poweramp, that'd drive the cab harder.
easiest is to just disconnect the wires from the internal speakers and solder a jack to them.
I've converted the headphone out to a speaker out a few years back, very convinient

I mic'd up one of these once and got a fucking beastly doom tone:
