FUCK, YOU WERE RIGHT! :zombie: I forgot, that for my other songs I used the left speakers of the mesa rectifier (16ohm for the amp). So it was a different room/position situation after all! So I re-recorded THIS, and I even didn´t use any equalizer for the guitar tracks..this is totally pure.

For some of you guys this will be sound kind of weird, because the bass sound is extreme. But that´s the way I want it to sound.

I´d like to know, what do you think about this (pretty short) Marshall/recti clip. I personally like mixes where the bass is hearable So I tryed this...


What do you think about it? Suggestions for improvement is gladly heared!

Firstly digging that riff! And the tones alright if your going for more of an industrial sound but its pretty grainy for my tastes.

Better than the Vamp for sure though haha

I didn´t use a tubescreamer for it, maybe that´s why it sounds a bit grainy. Or do you think, it´s a matter of mic position?

Haha yeah, the v-amp...nice for leads, but crap for rythm sound ime. What gear did you use for your solo on The world has moved...? This sounds amazing.

Definitely a matter of mic position and mic. What'd you use? I know the JVM's got a lot more presence than that.

I used a SM57. I think this is a typical "too far from the dustcab" problem I should experiment some more with the mic positions, I guess. I also didn´t use a tubescreamer. Thanks for your opinion!

it really want to like it but i dunno if its the slate drums or what. dont think it'll need a screamer in the long run as im sure you can get tighter outta a marshall!! Got the track without the backing?

No problem, nobody has to like it. I´m in transition and change some things in the studio..for example saying goodbye to amp modelling & stuff

Unfortunately I don´t have the track without backings right here (I´m at home), but I´ll try some test recordings tomorrow. I´m sure there is lot of space for improvement. And about the slate drums..yeah, I worked with that Well recognized.

Hmm, unfortunately I can't say I'm a fan Felix, it's very dark and kinda hollow, though unless you're like wildly off the dustcap, I'm thinking amp settings are more to blame - however, the hollowness might be the result of some room issues; where do you have the cab positioned? Bass sounds kinda strange and a bit phasey too, which isn't helping - you should just do whatever you did to get the Gunman's Poem tone, I still freakin' love that

Yeah dude, I´m in search of a different sound. To get the "Gunman´s Poem" sound again is no problem for me. I've probably lost me on the quest for a new guitar sound a bit. Meehh I also tryed to emphasize the bass a little bit more. I absolutely dig the Alex Webster sound and this percussive "clang" of his bass.

Room issues..hmmm I think, we can exclude this, because I didn´t change anything since Gunman´s Poem. But man, thanks for your help!!

Thanks dude! Although I like the character of the sound, I realized (after comparing with my other productions) there are missing important frequences. It sounds much too hollow. But this is no problem to fix. Can´t wait to post an improved mix here.

just be weary of having slate stuff for the first time, it sounds v generic!! it may be nice, but don't get stuck into trends of other sneapsters fav samples, just use, blend, and completely post fuck em all up (which is what i do)

i hear ya man, I just got slate ex, and Im trying not to do the same thing people did with dfh lol. Im mainly blending the room samples with other samples I have that I like the attack of.

Naah I always hated trends, all is sounding the same, I´m so sick of it!! I rather fall flat on my face by searching different sounds, instead of going the easy way copying some fucking trends. My goal is it to get a good sound out of a real drumkit. I used the slate programm just for this soundtest...meeeh
