Well, it is an EP. Maybe they're just experimenting on a less important release.

Dawnbringer are very concept focused. As much as I'd like to hear more Sun God, I respect their willingness to experiment

It was pretty good, it felt short for some reason, but I think Triumph And Power is better at the moment. That might change.

Everything. Not many old thrash metal bands that are still going do anything for me. I heard the two singles off the album and they were generic, tired and overproduced.
"Second To None" was also pretty fucking wimpy.

Definitely not enough of a die-hard Destruction fan.

And you've certainly got a point about most classic thrash bands being nothing but meek shadows of what they once were, Destruction being no exception. Megadeth is roaring back with a vengeance though, talk about throttling back into the ring at Mach 10.

Yeah, except Dave's voice is running to catch up and failing miserably. The new guitarist is great but it's not Megadeth. New album is nearly unlistenable for these reasons. I can dig the instrumental bits if I don't think of it as Megadeth

Therein lies the problem, any band or artist that actively tries to remain relevant is bound to fail miserably. Caring about relevancy is a death wish in underground metal.

Some are, but there's plenty of garbage new thrash too. Thoughts on the new Anthrax?

Haven't listened to the entire thing, because what I heard was pretty tough to stomach tbh. I liked a track or two from Worship Music

New Grand Magus is certainly better than Triumph and Power! It has even better choruses, man I don't know any other band which choruses would stuck in my head so hard. Their creativity is just immense.

The "viking metal" chorus caught me off guard though!

Do you mean "Varangian"? That's my absolute favorite as well.

It's definitely better than the last. Not as good as The Hunt though. Will have to listen more.
