Absolutely correct, greatest Thrash album ever, this is the quintessential Thrash album and the one Reign In Blood copied.

Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Nowhere near a masterpiece.

In response to Profanity:

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Great album but not a masterpiece

I think BG climaxed with this album as a whole even though some of the prior albums had some better individual songs, NiME is a culmination of the progressive overtones BG was gradually making and is excels in what it is supposed to represent - a concept album.

Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Not even one of the best in its genre

You see many argue which is the best Burzum disc so you may have your own opinion on which Burzum disc is the best. Not really worth arguing over.

Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
I take it that was a joke.

Did you see a laughing smiley next to it? Ok then, do the math.

Dark Tranquility - Skydancer
Not even in DT's top 3

If you argue The Gallery is better, I could understand. Other than that, you would be wrong.

Darkthrone - A Blaze In The Northern Sky
How could you choose that over Transilvanian Hunger?

I love TH. Heck, I love all Darkthrone's albums. TH represents a lot in the minimalism of black metal even though the album is sorta tongue in cheek. A Blaze, IMO, has not only the best songwriting but seems the most honest album of the trilogy. Its intent soothes in every note of that album.

Death - Symbolic
Human and Leprosy completely own that album.

Both great discs but Symbolic is still my fav.

Death Angel - The UltraViolence
Never heard that album mentioned before in such a positive way.

Well it should be. A shame that this band became the suck after it.

Dissection - Storm of The Lights Bane
Great album but nowhere near a masterpiece

A lot of debate on this one but I say it is a masterpiece. Its a great combination of gothenburg and black metal, IMO. Its evil but heck if ain't damn melodic.

Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Doesn't have enough

It took me a couple of years to totally appreciate this album. I thought it was wankery at first but overtime, I began to realize that every second on this album is crucial.

DIO - Holy Diver
Dio has never made a masterpiece with his own band.

Wrong. This album is one of the greats of all time. In my top 5 for sure. Along with Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules, it is the essence of true heavy metal.

Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Nowhere near a masterpiece

I like Emperor and I know many will flame me for that. However, I think this band hit it right on the head with this album between the their 2 distinct styles.

Exodus - Bonded By Blood

This album is the bible of thrash.

Fates Warning - The Spectre Within
You must be the first ever person.

Another shame. This album cannot be touched by many of the power/progressive outputs today. Arch was a vocal god.

Gamma Ray - Powerplant
Somewhere Out In Space is better but GR aren't of high enough standard to make a masterpiece.

I actually put Poweplant, SOIS, and Land of the Free right next to each other. All 3 are power metal classics and to be honest, my opinion on which is better can change every month.

Grave Digger - Excalibur
Rhinegold is Grave Digger's masterpiece.

I love Rheingold myself but its a bit repetitive compare to Excalibur.

Helloween - The Dark Ride
Are you fotgetting the 2 Keeper albums?

Nope. I love the Keeper albums but they each have some flaws. The Dark Ride does not. It is metal perfection.

Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider
Iced Earth will nevewr be any more than Iron Maiden wannabes.

Meh, that is a lame opinion. NotS and Burnt Offerings are great albums on their own right and should be respected.

Immortal - At The Heart of Winter
What makes you think that's a masterpiece?

Sorta like my Empreror comment. Immortal took a turn with this album and hit it right on the head. I love Pure Holocaust and SoND as well but this album is the perfect mix for me.

Immolation - Unholy Cult

Its brutal and brilliant which cannot be said for many death albums.

Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Maiden's masterpieces are NOTB and SSOASS

Maiden's first 7 discs are great, IMO, but this one always held a special place for me. I played this album for like a year straight when it came out. I love every song on this album.

Jag Panzer - The Fourth Judgment
Never heard

You should. Great straight up, no bullshit metal done right.

Judas Priest - Stained Class
Priest don't make masterpieces

Uh, Sad Wings and Painkiller along with Stained Class? You should learn your metal history.

Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Nowhere near a masterpiece.

I just got into this album and it is completely amazing from the masterful riffs and the most unusual but still very fitting vocals. Its a one of a kind, IMO.

Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse
Morningrise is the definitive Opeth album.

See my Immortal/Emperor comments. The perfect mix of the 2 styles.

Overkill - Horrorscope
Can't quite see why.

I will give you this one. Overkill never really made a "masterpiece" but you know what? They never made a bad album either for over 20 years. They deserve some kinda respect so I threw that one in.

Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
First 4 were better.

First 4 were great but not better. The most evil guitar tone of all time. Its never been matched. Slayer learns that evil is not always associated with being fast.

Stratovarius - Visions
Possibly

For that genre, the musicianship is incredible.

Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Human Waste owns it

Nope. PfW is the pinnacle of this band and of most death metal in general.

Meh, that is a lame opinion. NotS and Burnt Offerings are great albums on their own right and should be respected.
I think IE pretty much sucks, but I'll definitely agree that these are their best, they are good metal albums.

Uh, Sad Wings and Painkiller along with Stained Class? You should learn your metal history
I would put Sad Wings in there, but not SC and not Painkiller (I find it to be too forced).. I would put Defenders and Sin After Sin (the most underrated Priest album IMO).

Overkill never really made a "masterpiece" but you know what? They never made a bad album either for over 20 years. They deserve some kinda respect so I threw that one in.
This is pretty much how I feel about Running Wild, Grave Digger, and Rage.

For that genre, the musicianship is incredible.
For Tolkki and Jens, yep, but there's a whole bunch of bassists, drummers, and vocalists that own the other three. I know Jorg at least is good and all but he hasn't drummed anything interesting since Rage and Mekong Delta.

Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
The greatest Thrash album ever, just pure Thrash and everything Thrash should be.
Hardly, Coma of souls is easily Kreators best album. PTK is good but very patchy in places. Darkness Descends crushes it with ease.
