Iced Ray said:Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell
Agree
Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Great album but not a masterpiece
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Not even one of the best in its genre
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
I take it that was a joke.
Dark Tranquility - Skydancer
Not even in DT's top 3
Darkthrone - A Blaze In The Northern Sky
How could you choose that over Transilvanian Hunger?
Death - Symbolic
Human and Leprosy completely own that album.
Death Angel - The UltraViolence
Never heard that album mentioned before in such a positive way.
Dissection - Storm of The Lights Bane
Great album but nowhere near a masterpiece
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Doesn't have enough
DIO - Holy Diver
Dio has never made a masterpiece with his own band.
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Nowhere near a masterpiece
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Fates Warning - The Spectre Within
You must be the first ever person.
Gamma Ray - Powerplant
Somewhere Out In Space is better but GR aren't of high enough standard to make a masterpiece.
Grave Digger - Excalibur
Rhinegold is Grave Digger's masterpiece.
Helloween - The Dark Ride
Are you fotgetting the 2 Keeper albums?
Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider
Iced Earth will nevewr be any more than Iron Maiden wannabes.
Immortal - At The Heart of Winter
What makes you think that's a masterpiece?
Immolation - Unholy Cult
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Maiden's masterpieces are NOTB and SSOASS
Jag Panzer - The Fourth Judgment
Never heard
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Priest don't make masterpieces
King Diamond - Abigail
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Absolutely correct, greatest Thrash album ever, this is the quintessential Thrash album and the one Reign In Blood copied.
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Nowhere near a masterpiece.
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Megiddo - The Devil and The Whore
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Morbid Angel - Gateways to Annihilation
Opeth - My Arms Your Hearse
Morningrise is the definitive Opeth album.
Overkill - Horrorscope
Can't quite see why.
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Agrees
Running Wild - Death or Glory
Savatage - Poets & Madmen
No comment
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
First 4 were better.
Stratovarius - Visions
Possibly
Suffocation - Pierced From Within
Human Waste owns it
The Chasm - Deathcult...
Not heard in enough detail to give a comment
I think IE pretty much sucks, but I'll definitely agree that these are their best, they are good metal albums.Meh, that is a lame opinion. NotS and Burnt Offerings are great albums on their own right and should be respected.
I would put Sad Wings in there, but not SC and not Painkiller (I find it to be too forced).. I would put Defenders and Sin After Sin (the most underrated Priest album IMO).Uh, Sad Wings and Painkiller along with Stained Class? You should learn your metal history
This is pretty much how I feel about Running Wild, Grave Digger, and Rage.Overkill never really made a "masterpiece" but you know what? They never made a bad album either for over 20 years. They deserve some kinda respect so I threw that one in.
For Tolkki and Jens, yep, but there's a whole bunch of bassists, drummers, and vocalists that own the other three. I know Jorg at least is good and all but he hasn't drummed anything interesting since Rage and Mekong Delta. For that genre, the musicianship is incredible.

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Mayhem - Chimera
Hardly, Coma of souls is easily Kreators best album. PTK is good but very patchy in places. Darkness Descends crushes it with ease.Profånity said:Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
The greatest Thrash album ever, just pure Thrash and everything Thrash should be.
