Metalcore

Long answer:

Yes, probably, but I'm too ignorant and attached to "true metal" to "compromise" by listening to a "hybrid" of two genres of music (but everyone loves Alcest, who combine BM and shoegaze...the hypocrisy!), so I'm just going to make a baseless generalization about all metalcore sucking because all the flagstaff bands suck and of course that is a fair way to judge an entire genre of music.

After all, I do the same thing with death met--oh, wait...no I don't...

 actually all metalcore i've heard is awful... are there 'good' metalcore bands? perhaps... but all the stuff i have heard leaves me completely uninterested in looking any deeper. i mean seriously if the essential elements of the genre sicken you then are you really going to be more impressed by a "good" band of a given genre as opposed to a mediocre one? doubt it.

But you sound like a retard when you say "ONE WORD: NO AHAHAHA GET IT CUZ DER R NO GUD METLCOR BANDZ DEY AL R IRELVANT N SUND LIEK AT TEH GAYTZ BASICLY"...and of course not just you, people here (and in the metal world) in general. For some reason, metalcore has a weird stigma attached to it which is analogous to "fucking gay" for most people, despite some metalcore bands being more metal/heavier/whatever than some metal bands (Cannae, Heaven Shall Burn, etc.). I don't appreciate that at all.

And, no, I do not expect you to like it at all if the main elements of the genre "sicken" you...however, please throw up your baseless conclusions elsewhere, I don't want them here. They aren't helpful (instead of saying "no" bluntly, you can, for instance, say "possibly, but I haven't heard anything other than crap" to save yourself from looking really ignorant of a rather far-reaching style of metal).

you know you are only reacting this way because you like metalcore... if i said the same thing about another genre you didn't like probably wouldn't even notice...
but actually my point stands... since the main elements of the genre are obnoxious to me... then a "good" band of the genre isn't going to impress me... so "short answer: no" is still an appropriate response

There aren't really any genres of metal that I hate, but that is irrelevant. Anyway, yeah that's obvious. I only care because I enjoy the genre to a relatively large extent compared to most people here. Anyway, yeah I don't give a shit and don't feel like arguing about it with you anymore. You do not like the genre, we know, move on. You don't have to be negative all the time. You can choose to not post.

word up

Please stop posting like. Thats like the third time spelling like that in this thread. Its really getting at my nerves.
I think V5 was making a good point but I agree with Alter (:ill:) here. Nobody, especially Thoth-Amon types like that, and it's just annoying to read.

My main problem with metalcore is more the metal they use. It seems that most of the popular metalcore bands use In Flames style riffs and I just hate those. The metalcore that I've heard that don't use those has been decent.

I just get frustrated when I see people bash things out of ignorance, but whatever.

Alter, you have about five spelling and grammar errors in every post, so don't tell me how to type :p :p

In general, German metalcore is fucking kickass and isn't at all like Trivium, As I Lay Dying, and other shit bands from the US who sound like Gothenburg stuff (not that I dislike it, but it belongs to a previous scene/style, and should stay as such).

I regard Thoth as a quite intelligent poster here, but needless negativity that can discourage a newbie from even checking something out which could be great to him/her is not necessary here. I don't mean "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything," because then it would just be a bunch of circle jerking bullshit, but there are other ways to phrase "no everything sucks"; you probably haven't heard everything in said genre. I know it sounds nitpick-y, but it avoids hasty over-generalization and other misinformed judgments...

If someone came in to a death metal thread and replied to a n00b who simply asked "is death metal good?" with "no fuck death metal" it'd be trolling. It is the same case here. Being mod of GMD, I feel the need to exercise my rule (which is usually grounded in objectivity; please feel free to tell me if I'm being a cock and I'll stop), so I'm sorry if it seemed like I was taking this personally, though it was only around half-personal, I swear.

You know a lot about the bible and shit so yeah.

Anyway...uh...yeah. I've been digging Training For Utopia lately (thanks Mr_Haze/Banned if you see this!)...Christian metalcore, but really heavy and kinda industrial, least on Plastic Soul Impalement. Check it out here.

Bahaha...excellent story to tell the grandkids!!

actually i was planning on being an orthodox priest so i would still be allowed to marry... but yeah that would be funny "hey sonny if i didn't stop believing in jewish fables you wouldn't exist!!"
