Metalcore

I just get frustrated when I see people bash things out of ignorance, but whatever.

Alter, you have about five spelling and grammar errors in every post, so don't tell me how to type :p :p

In general, German metalcore is fucking kickass and isn't at all like Trivium, As I Lay Dying, and other shit bands from the US who sound like Gothenburg stuff (not that I dislike it, but it belongs to a previous scene/style, and should stay as such).

I regard Thoth as a quite intelligent poster here, but needless negativity that can discourage a newbie from even checking something out which could be great to him/her is not necessary here. I don't mean "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything," because then it would just be a bunch of circle jerking bullshit, but there are other ways to phrase "no everything sucks"; you probably haven't heard everything in said genre. I know it sounds nitpick-y, but it avoids hasty over-generalization and other misinformed judgments...

If someone came in to a death metal thread and replied to a n00b who simply asked "is death metal good?" with "no fuck death metal" it'd be trolling. It is the same case here. Being mod of GMD, I feel the need to exercise my rule (which is usually grounded in objectivity; please feel free to tell me if I'm being a cock and I'll stop), so I'm sorry if it seemed like I was taking this personally, though it was only around half-personal, I swear.

I did hear some gothenburg riffs in that band tbh. I usually don't mind gothenburg shit that much but then the whiny cleans came in and it killed it for me. I'm pretty picky when it comes to metalcore. :p

I really dig Parkway Drive for some reason. It's one of those "I never thought I'd like that band" cases.

Yes,you are being a dick and no my grammar is not bad in most cases.

anybody with a picture of Dmitri Shostakovich in his sig is much more intelligent and metal than anybody else on this board.

I'd recommend such stuff as Raunchy, Through The Eyes Of The Dead (First album definately has metalcorish links), possibly Burst and Devil Sold His Soul could be classified as similar to metalcore too, and are pretty good.

Very good, but I'm undecided as to whether it is better or not. I have yet to completely get into the new one, but it's still 10th best of the year for me (mainly because it's fucking Maroon and they are amazingly good). They do a lot of interesting, new stuff on it (classical-influenced solo in the first song sealed the deal for me)...

Ha well I'm relatively new to metalcore. I just recently realized that there are good bands in the genre. :p
