Mic positions, from behind and so on

Saw i video about common mic positions, at one point he mic the speaker from behind and obvious it didn't sound great alone but it sounded great mixed with other positions. do you use that method?
(alone 3:15, mixed at 3:55)

Am I crazy or are there phase issues with the last combinations? (not the ones with the rear, I actually liked Rear + Center)

No you aint crazy

Oh and personally NO.

I use a single 57 just off the center of the cone on axis and an I5 on the center of the cone on axis .. .put the mics in phase and BOOM. Perfection
