And genius? really? You fucking think HE wrote that music? He sat around and composed all the beats? Give me a fucking break. That shit was all Quincy Jones.

Dude, there is other music styles than metal. And yeah he only performed his songs, but he performed them really well. I mean, Quincy surely composed all of his music but he would have never been able to perform them on stage and gain popularity. Composing and performing are two different domains, some are good at composing, others are good at performing, like Michael Jackson.

It feels like arguing with you is useless but anyway.
 
The first album I got as a kid was "Thriller," on vinyl, when it was new. That record was absolutely amazing, and let's not forget that it was Steve Lukather who played the rhythm guitars on "Beat It," Eddie just did the solo (which is out of tune, but still awesome.) Quincy Jones is a genius producer and composer, so a lot of credit must go there, but Michael was an amazing talent.

To me, guys like Michael Jackson and Phil Spector are symbols of how bat shit crazy and incredibly creepy the music business got during its heyday. I don't think Michael was molesting kids; I think he was just severely misguided and stuck in a bizarre, insulated world largely of his own design, and had no idea how to address the accusations without alienating everyone and coming off as a creep and a liar.

The last couple of years, it seems like Michael was preparing for his early death, setting his affairs in order, etc. Something was clearly very wrong with his health, but we may not know what the deal is for a long time.

Almost much everyone I know is sad about this, even people who listen to brutal deathmetal exclusively.

I can't really explain why - it's not like this guy played any role in my life in the last 10-15 years - but when I read the news this morning I immediately thought this was some kind of ill joke or something. Took me a second to realize and then really fucked with me. I am still shocked.
In his times, the guy was just "out there" like noone else.
 
I agree with Kazrog. For me Michael didn't molest childrens... He was only a man that didn't live his childood and it decided to remain a children.

I agree that while not personally, MJ was an influential artist for many. While he didn't provide any inspiration to my own music I enjoy some of his music and have respect for what he accomplished and the adversity he overcame over the course of his life but.......with that said let's have some fun:

I feel sympathy for his children, who were born via a loveless arrangement in a calculated ploy to distance MJ from his growing public perception as a pederastic pervert. And for the man he could have been if not for the soul-twisting unreality of his life.

MJ as he was at the end was no more a real human being than Elvis in his white rhinestone suit.

And what made Michael Jackson unique was that he actually did write his own music and managed to cram in every single style of music into one song.
And revolutionized pop? No, not really, because 99% of the pop-musicians lacks the talent to do what Michael did.

And when we are talking about Michael Jackson, please dont forget that he was an ENTERTAINER.. not just some guy who walks up on stage and sing a song, like i guess most of your favorite bands do.

I didn't really think there would be pricks on this forum who think metal is the whole universe and anything else is for pussies. Personally I don't see this forum as a "metal" forum, I rather see it as a place where awesome people gather to help each other and improve themselves, and their passion happens to be within metal. Yea now some stupid fuck is gonna try to pull a "duuuh, you do know this is UltimateMETAL.com right!?!?!???"... NO SHIT, is it?. It seems it is, but how does that promote the idea of rejecting the whole world and making that little corner of metal your new world? Fuck dressing like metal, fuck growing facial hair just to look metal, fuck being unsocial because it is cool and metal, fuck all that shit.

I'm sorry for ranting like this guys but seriously, it's not healthy or good in any way to think metal is the alpha and omega. WAKE UP! No matter from what angle you look at it, Michael Jackson HAS influenced metal. You'll shit your pants when one of your metal "gods" reveal in an interview or something, that they draw inspiration from MJ. Then you'll really feel as stupid as you really are.

No wonder most metal is pure crap... dare I say even crappier than pop? Maybe with less dick heads, and more open minded people, there would be more good new and fresh metal instead of the same old crap thrash or breakdowny crapcore.
