No wonder most metal is pure crap... dare I say even crappier than pop? Maybe with less dick heads, and more open minded people, there would be more good new and fresh metal instead of the same old crap thrash or breakdowny crapcore.

I think most on here will agree with you. The thing is, I just happen to listen to metal most of the time because it is the genre that I enjoy most. I laugh at all those pandas running around as well as those who think they should act "evil" or "brutal" or whatever because their music might suggest that they should do. Whatever way you take it, there's ignorant/intolerant people everywhere. Metal in general is a more extreme form of music so it usually attracts a lot of "extreme" people as well.

By the way, I was always under the impression that "popmusic" is just popular music. So if Slayer happens to go mainstream it would be popmusic as well. I find it weird that people refer to Pop as a genre and yes, I know it is quite common to do so, still seems a bit paradoxical.

I'll be Honest. I used to love listening to Metal. Now I Don't Like it much at all, but im obsessed with Metal Production Qualities. (Yeah Weird I know) and most of my business is metal bands, but most of what ive learned from here has translated so well to other genres perfectly, if not with minor tweaking. I come here to hang out with other production tweebz like myself :erk::lol::goggly:

Back to MJ.

Putting it Simply. Im not a Fan of the guy, I dont really Like his music and I dont Really like his image or persona (well from the public eye View anyway.)

However I can appreciate and respect anyone who has the kind of Following that he has, I mean look at the thousands of people who gathered at the Hospital he was at, and the fact that we have even paid tribute on a "metal Forum" to someone so iconic to "mainstream music". Really, the last time can remember this kind of Stir was 9/11.

The guy was freaking huge.

I'll never understand this "if it ain't metal, then it just plain sucks." If you exclusively like metal because it is your favorite genre and nothing else appeals to you, then I guess it's warranted. But this, "I'm too brutal, I'm fat, I have long hair, and play WoW in my mom's basement, I'm way more brutal than you'll EVER be," mentality is just plain retarded. :lol:

I also think it's bat-shit crazy, because there is SO much good music out there that isn't metal.

If you intentionally do not explore other styles of music, then I feel bad for you!

C'mon...if a song is great, is great. Devin Townsend did pop songs and no one said he is a stupid guy.
And Michael Jackson is a little different than Britney Spears.......only a little....... it was a great singer, a great dancer and he sold more than 100milions copies only with 1 album.

You are totally missing the point. It's not about LIKING Michael Jackson, it's about acknowledging that the man influenced today's music, and yes even metal, in some form.

I don't listen to Jackson either, although like almost everyone else, I do think he has some really good tunes. Just because I don't listen to him doesn't mean I don't like him, and just because I do think he has a few good hits doesn't mean I do like him. I do know he has influenced MANY of today's musicians though, and that's what this discussion is about.

But yea, some smart asses who think metal was born from itself can go on and on about how cool metal is and how metal doesn't get influenced by other music genres, but please don't be one of them. Accept the fact that MJ was bigger than any of us will ever be, and that he has influenced many of us.

And Erkan, who the fuck is gonna say that "WACKO" was their biggest influence, ( I could understand the Killswitch dudes ), but cmon!
There maybe 1 or 2 but they will only be talking politically correctly.
When someone passes away, you will never get high profile people speaking their mind, (eg, He was a fucking wierdo, he had a fucked up head, etc etc), you will only get the positive or "nice" comments.
I dont even know what he looked like in the last 2 years, with that stupid fucking head of his, for all we know his real name is probably not "Michael Jackson!", its probably "PETER", "PETER FILE!".

Since you're basically calling everone on this forum exluding yourself and J the Tyrant "motherfuckers", I just want to point out to you that those "motherfuckers" usually don't jump on someone unless they are terribly wrong or acting terribly stupid.

But sure ok, let's pretend that MJ was worthless and crappy and didn't inspire anyone doing anything remotely close to metal. Sigh...

And in my opinion, it doesn't matter how much someone inspires someone, as long as they do. I'm pretty sure MJ is an inspiration to many metal artists in some way, whether it be for the groove or for some subtle way of singing. It can be extremely small stuff, but he is still in the minds of those who are doing something entirely other than pop music. Hell, Jamiroquai is in my head all the fucking time when I make metal and so is Baron Bane! Check 'em out and you'll see they have nothing to do with metal. With that said, I wonder what goes in Devin Townsend's head... I don't expect him to have 100% metal influences, yet he puts out some of the best music I have ever heard.

I said I PERSONALLY think's he sucks balls, LITERALLY AND FIGURATIVELY.

Man, a lot of disrespect! I really loved mj as a kid. I sung and danced along with thriller as a kid. That album and bad were the shit. The music he did after that I didn't really care for.
 
The thread's title was "Michael Jackson R.I.P." as in Rest In Peace - seems like an obvious place to post your well wishes given the title. If you feel otherwise, why even bother posting. I can think of a ton of shit that I "don't" like but there is a time and a place. Feel free to start a new thread - "Michael Jackson - Rott in Hell" if you dislike him to the point that you feel the need to let the world know, otherwise why even take the time to read the thread if it "is not your thing" or "not metal enough" let alone posting a response to it.

That last part was being a tad bit facetious, but you know what I mean.

Just my two cents, but like all other opinions - the saying "... like assholes" comes to mind.
