Mikael's Death Vox-Who rates

Gotta agree with Takin the Music Back. Please listen to the song that is my name - Beyond the Unholy Grave which is a bonus track off Scream Bloody Gore. Those are fucking Death vocals. The music is very Thrashy...the vocals are the purest form of Death Metal imagineable. Way better than all this cookie monster, cup the mic bullshit. Oh and remember that Chuck's vocals were audible and his lyrics weren't shit. I'd take that over brutal crap lyrics anyday.

top 3 DM vocalists of all time

John Tardy - Obituary
Chuck Schuldiner - Death
Jeff Walker - Carcass

PS: Whats with all these guys not knowing Jeff Walker's name?! Carcass!!!!!

Cheers man, I like it when people agree with me! But didn't Bill Steer also sing a lot Carcass's songs as well? I never name them cos I'm not sure who sang what.
I don't really like the vocals on Heartwork, although it's a killer album.

Well, I'm no DM conoisseur (sp?), so at the risk of being flamed:

Dan Swano-EoS....Best vocalist I've ever heard, actually, clean AND DM
Mikael-Opeth
Mikael Stanne-DT
Jeff Walker-Carcass
And I don't care what anyone says, Karl Sanders from Nile has a great death vox, in my opinion

Also, why are people listing Immortal's vocalist (can't remember the name, boo-fucking-hoo) as Death Vox?

And danni filth?!?!?!

LoLZ @ dAt!11

chuck vocals are chuck vocals, shrill death or extreme thrash, about as hard to categorise as death themselves. ("well, they're a death metal band, only not really" how many times have you said that) the best thing about mike is his range, from clean to extreme and all inbetween.

If you want to hear a funny vocalist download some lost horizon. they're a very homoerotic power metal band, get the song 'highlander' and wait for the insanely high falsetto bit about 4 mins 30 in.

well, I enjoy Lord Worm, Ross Dolan, Luc Lemay, Muhammed Suicmez, Mikael Åkerfeldt, dude from Theory In Practice, Chuck (?) from Suffocation...

As for Carcass a friend of mine borrowed all the albums 18mths ago and then moved 800 kms away And my memory is severly damaged.
I thought it was Bill Steer
anyway it was definitely the bass player who sang most if not all of the songs. so can we clear that up.
And I like Swansong with its Megacarcass riffing and amazing lead playing.
What do other Carcass fans think of Swansong.
As for Immortal being Death vocals well you have a point. But I think he is a great singer a hybrid between black/death especially on their latest.

Well and the Chuck's not Death vocals was finally put to rest.
And its Frank Mullen from Suffocation

Jeff Walker rocks. OK. there is a certain individuality to this english death metal band.
Just great stuff. Not unique yet they had their own slant on this rather bizzare genre of music.
Necro had the blast beats and the melodic guitar interludes and breakdowns which came to the the fore later on.
They established themselves as death metal guitar heroes which many people do not appreciate. Outstanding guitar playing along with Walkers barky vox.
This band needs more cred in death metal history.
Great stuff.

All I have to say is "No love lost". Listening to Heartwork at this moment

Pencil in Heartwork for a retro listen.

Jeff Walker sort of barks much like the Immortal guy if you ask me, and it works.

So Jeff Walker gets a vote.

I think its hillarious that People reckon Chuck Shuldiner isnt really a Death Metal vocalist... he (amongst others) invented Death Metal!!

Theres some strange comments about John Tardy from Obituary too.. that guy for me is the template of death vocals, and id love to hear obituary do a cover of White Christmas!

Iiiiiiiiimmmmmm dreeeeeeming uv a whiiiiiiiiiiiiite christmaaaaaaas just like the wooooooons i usssed to knoooooooooooooooowh!

:)
