I'm not sure calibrating to the room is a good idea, but calibrating the speakers themselves seems to me to be a great idea. Get a set of NS10s, go find the frequency response graph, flip it and put in your master bus. Bingo, fast response and flat response for very little money

BTW that was just an idea. I'm not saying it would necessarily work

Yeah, I don't think it'd be quite that simple in practice dude, though I suppose it might help! (or might just create lots of annoying phaseyness, especially from the boosting)
 
Aren't most EQ plugins linear-phase? Even so, I still hear slight phaseyness when boosting more than 7 or 8 dB in much of anything, and given how wild the frequency plot of NS10s is, I think that'd be within the realm of possibility!
