more great viking/pagan metal bands

no mention of Thyrfing yet? One of my all-time favorite bands, and the band that really got me into this genre. Fucking awesome. Check out Urkraft or Valdr Galga for sure.

Ensiferum seems a bit more power/death metal to me -- there are a few viking/battle elements -- like Battle Song (which has a cool bass intro hehe) and their older stuff -- and they do have a lot of folkish-like elements reminiscent of Finntroll imo

They come from lithuania and play some kind of Pagan/Heavy Metal (War Heavy Metal they call it) very good and individual! Not one of these Ensiferum or Koorpiklaani copies. Please check the Mp3's out:

heidevolk is a good pagan/heathen band from gelderland, netherlands. ensiferum is alright. but i prefer moonsorrow

So many small bands around ... some of you guys are so obsessed with the big ones ... dig around, remove the guitar pick and drum sticks out of your ass and you will discover some really amazing bands. Support them, send emails buy cd's and merch straight from the band.

lumsk is good also, asmegin, menhir...i don't know if fjoergyn counts. it is true these are bigger bands.
i do support and love some local bands, but none fall in this category here in cali haha. well, let me know of some good bands then eh!
