Most Beautiful Acoustic songs you know (mostly instrumental)

"box of rain" by grateful dead <---my fave song of all time :D
can't believe nobody's mentioned bob dylan, everyone should at least be familiar with the classics
also katatonia - "day", johnny cash - "hurt" (i like his version), rush - "the trees"

p.s. the cure rule, robert smith is the man

"The Witches Promise"
"Salamander"
"Skating Away (on the thin ice of a new day)" <---Most beautiful song ever
"Slipstream"
"The Secret Language Of Birds"
"Wond'ring Aloud"
"Wond'ring Again"
"Only Solitaire" <----Check THIS fucker out!
"Thick As A Brick (intro edit)"
"One White Duck"
"Jack In The Green"
"Dun Ringill"
"Weathercock"

All by Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson. Do yourself a favour and listen to them.

Everything from David Qualey. He needs more attention.
Everything from Bert Jansch. No explanation needed.

Other interesting acoustic albums that just came to my mind:
Pat Metheny - One Quiet Night
Pat Metheny - Watercolors
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
Nick Drake - Bryter Later
Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries
Michael Hedges - Breakfast in the field
Michael Hedges - Oracle
John Renbourn - The Black Balloon
Stefan Grossman & John Renbourn - Under the Volcano
All Stuff from Thomas Leeb
Justin King - Le Bleu
Eric Roche - Spin
Empyrium - Weiland (Except the tracks with vocals)
Empyrium - Where at night the woodgrouse plays
Ravi Shankar - The Spirit of india
Paco de Lucia - Iberia de Albeniz

If you need more, you'll get more.. :D

Nutshell by Alice in Chains is life changing... voice of the soul by death is also amazing.
But the greatest acoustic song of all time must be Wind of Change by Acoustic Alchemy.

The Doors: Strange Days

i know it says mostly instrumental, but who cares, this is a great song.

Mood For A Day by YES's Steve Howe has always been a favorite of mine.
Al Di Meola is an acoustic guitar god! Seen both Al Di Meola and Steve Howe (solo) tours.

my favorites are

Sacred Reich - If Only :worship:
Death - Voice of the Soul
Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There?

Now I gotta go, I have about 50 songs to download...

well if acoustic just means no distorted guitars, then i'm gonna have to go with:

Devil Doll - Eliogabalus (even though it has sparing distorted guitars)
Dodheimsgard - Oneiroscope
Nine Inch Nails - The Frail

...but if it means acoustic guitar oriented, scratch all that and let's just go with the beginning of Ozzy-Killer of Giants.

I love this thread.

I think the 2nd acoustic part towards the end of part 1 is better than the intro, or at least equally good.

Nah I prefer the start, but the only reason I said this is because you can get the intro edit on greatest hits albums. Obviously if you had any interest at all in good music you'd buy the fucking TAAB album!

Every Tull album up to "Stormwatch" is under-rated nowadays because people only like "cool" music. Of course, almost everything AFTER "Stormwatch" isn't rated because it's not really that great (compared to the old classics).

"Life's A Long Song" is another amazing acoustic tune. Ian ANderson's vocals were so good in those days....

The ones on THE SOMBERLAIN.

Defintely...classical metal interludes always rule...we've mentioned "desolate ways" a million times, that's always fun to play.
Lord Belial - Forlorn in Silence is another great one.
