another song i consider very 'metal' is lavatory love machine by Edguy.. maybe not an obvious choice, but think about it... how much more metal can you get than a bunch of guys singing about screwing a chick on a crashing plane! \m/ and their vid clip is awesome too (that and king of fools)

I'd say absolutely no to Tyr. Great band, but nothing in terms of kick ass brutal riffage. And most of the songs are very slow paced, so i don't think Tyr fits the bill at all.
