Any other good melodic death metal albums to recommend ? I want best than Slaughter of the Soul and it's impossible to find some it seems !

well better from slaughter of the soul is the salvation of the soul ie
dark tranquillity -the gallery.defininition of melodic death metal me thinks.

and the first in flames album 'lunar strain' rocks in an outstanding way try it.generally in flames are a bit shit but they have good songs(or just catchy?)

I'm very happy with the new PL album. It's among those few which I can listen to for a long period without getting bored (for at least 100 times in 1-2months). I downloaded it first, then after much listening I burnt it to audio cd, and weeks after that I finally bought it as original, just because that's the way how I show my respect to the best ones. The same thing happened to me with Katatonia albums this year, and some others. I was also surprised and fascinated by opeths damnation but after a while I lost my interest about it. they getting to play more l'art pour l'art stuff. Nice, nice, nice, but thats all.
I dont know In Flames but somehow I'm not curious... half remember hearing them once and not liked though not sure, dont even know the "genre".

about pl,gothic is the best but i think underrated amongst people, and one second is a very good one too.

Draconian Times is peachy me thinks... good sound and that! (can never get enough of it, like! :p )

of course pop can be brilliant, I love Falco, some Madonna stuff, also U2 rules (oke, thats more rock tho).

but as u said, HIM is boring...

Falco, isn't this that half-goth(bloth) guy with the "basal" voice humming around? :D

Hey, I can enjoy stuff from Justin Timberlake even! hehe He's got some wicked Michael Jackson-like "aooo"'s! :tickled:

Btw;
What is that song with Justin that has a wicked drum-rythm in the beginning and some acoustic guitar too? It's goodeli-goodie-good!

When did PL want to be famous?? o_O

When they got Boy George on background tambourine! (when they switched to a bigger label, changed style... and it went sorta... bad (saleswise))

Scobelidoo!

maybe when they signed to a major label? chances are it was before that though. Anyway, they were already bigger than Metallica in Germany some time ago so thats famous enough. Sunglasses, expensive jeans, the lot

Oh eh... didn't see this reply - sorry god!

But well, in Germany Eiliert Pilarm is DEAD-famous, probably bigger that Megatallica and Wasp also!

Change in label does not constitute in getting more famous.
The label they were in before was part of a bigger company so whats the difference?
And change in style in the way the dress doesn't really mean anything. So there :Spin:

I really don't like god, but I agree with him in this! :loco:

They did change quite a lot when switching labels, and that... though things didn't go that well (they didn't sell as much as their label wanted 'em to) so the switched label again, to a smaller one.

Falco and goth? these words shouldnt go together hehehe ;)
He was (RIP) actually one of the best austrian singers... dont u know the song Jeanny? its just great!!! he made also some more famous stuff like "Amadeus", I guess he became famous with that. But I like a lot of songs from him, just try and get Jeanny or Vienna calling somewhere :)

Their sound or style whatever you want to call it was changing with One Second (with old label) so they have a bigger budget with another label and decided to be more experimental, so what?
Boy George and PL? WTF? o_O

btw, I dont like Justin but (yes shoot me) I think Eminem made some nice songs, I like the rythm in it and its not that kind of stupid gangsta rap...

Talking about not metal bands I also like The Cardigans, Cranberries, Tori Amos, Diafana Krina (for the greeks hehe), Die Ärzte, Garbage, Placebo etc...

Argh, I don't like Dark T. and I've tried 4 In Flames albums that bore me to death after 3 songs :( i found them not catchy at all...
Nah I STILL HAVENT FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR.
Maybe 'Slaughter of the Soul' is the masterpiece that noone will ever equal. Or do better. ( in the genre )

Draconian Times is my favourite PL album of all times and a reference concerning 90's metal albums for me. i also love Icon and the Shades of God era stuff. But their newer stuff bores me ( some good songs on One Second though ).
And i've never managed to get into Gothic. I know I'm a fake doomster ;)

They left MFN and signed to a major label if I remember rightly. Being on a major label is all about getting famous and marketable to sell units, otherwise you get dropped..
So there, smart arse :erk:
