most overhyped cd's?

Arch Enemy's stuff, i really cant see what all the hype is about in my opinion

Nirvana, i wish all those fucking lame magazines like NME would shut up saying they're the most important band ever etc... They were never anything special when they were around, cobain was a dickhead who stole his lyrics from other peoples' poems, they're gone, people should deal with it

All this "the" bands that are coming out, they are seriously over-hyped, everyone that comes out is always tipped as the next big thing, its irritating.

Cannibal Corpse, to my ears every song sounds the same but then again ive had bad hearing from birth so my judgement is nothing to go by

Opeth, yeah ok they are a great band but i think many people often over-hype them, almost making them out as godlike immortal people who cant put a foot wrong. I often do think that like manga-san said, their songs use the same chords over and over and it gets a bit boring on occasions

Agreed about Nile, they are a good band but i couldnt listen to them for long periods of time, its a wee bit too repetitive for me and people tipping them as the saviours of death metal etc.. are just dumb

Slayer, all this magazines go on and on about how amazing they are, they constantly suck up to them so they can seem "metal" and all the stupid nu-metallers say they like slayer so they can look cool. Yes they're a good band and have done some classic songs but they're not all that, there's loads of better bands

Arch Enemy - I don't get why people praise them so much. Sounds like really average melodic death metal.

Cannibal Corpse - I agree they're a little overrated. I mean I love some of their songs like Devoured By Vermin and Hammer Smashed Face but people treat them like the best extreme band ever. Yeah right.

In Flames - They're real overrated especially that Reroute To Remain. They're O.K maybe in my book but nothing amazing.

Metallica - They must be the most overrated band of all time. They never were great but they were good. They should of hung up 10 years ago. They're getting worse everyday.

Nile - They deserve all the praise.

Opeth - Epic.

Slayer - What!? Nu-metallers liking Slayer you said? Most of them I know dont even know who they are. I dont get why everyone slags off Slayer saying God Hates Us All=Nu-metal. Yeah right :rollseyes:. Just cause they have more cussing and they have that Hatebreed kind of sound doesn't mean it's nu-metal. It isn't the best Slayer album but give them a break. You think they can make metal classics every time?

Slipknot - They're pretty hyped especially after releasing Iowa. Sort of overrated but I was listening to them for a while.

Soilwork - Some songs I like but seems like boring Gothenburg metal.

murai - round where i live, all nu-metal kids say they like slayer etc... and wear slayer t-shirts when all they've heard of and have bothered to look at is reign in blood. I dont think god hates us all is nu-metal at all, far from it, i like quite a few of the tracks on it. Its just that slayer are the band all the shitty nu-metal mags like kerrang suck up to so they can look cool
