I'm betting that most Americans would probably completely detest atonal music, but they wouldn't even recognize that it is music. I'm a musicology enthusiast and I try to be open minded about these things, but even I can't appreciate any of the music that I've heard outside of our Western twelve tone system.
Indian music. Because it sucks.

Fewer than twelve tones is no problem, since even Western diatonic scales only have seven. It's when you have a lot of additional tones, intervals smaller than half steps and tones that fall between the twelve Western notes that it starts to sound dissonant and cacophonous to me.Devasya Chāyā;8749159 said:What?
