Movies

due to boredom here at RC i was forced to go to the gym, look at bikes, ipods, and other assorted shit. i stopped by the movie theater to see how much time i could waste there. The Hills Have Eyes remake was showing but not for an hour....so i came home.
my point here is has anyone seen it? and my other question is: what is the fucking deal with remaking every horror movie ever made? i think *i* might remake one.

Shawshank is top 10 for me too. The scene where red is in the field looking for the special rock is one of my favs.

Just saw Memories of Murder. Based on a true story of one of S.korea's first serial killers and the 2 detectives trying to find the killer. Throughout the movie you also see some of Korea's political situation (military rule). Really great cinematography and atmosphere throughout. Usually movies based on this premise are run of the mill, but the director/actors made up for that. Highly recommended.

"Shawshank Redemption" was just plain awesome. In fact it's also among the best of the few Stephen King novels I read (maybe just topped by "Shining"). Also best jail movie along with "Midnight Express".

Just saw "Nausicaä" and it was very good. You get all the sterotypical character classes of a Miyazaki story and the music is still horrible at the best of times but as usual I found myself sitting through it with much amazement. I'd say it ranges halfway between "Laputa - Castle in the Sky" and "Princess Mononoke" in terms of world/technology settling and ethical issues.

The Green Mile utterly dissapointed me after Shawshank, had such high hopes for it too ...

Saw THE WEATHER MAN ... fucking Nick Cage ... if he does another sappy character like this, man o man ...

I hear The Hills Have Eyes Too ... is pretty damn good, been getting good reviews even from Horror buffs ... certainly the trailer looks fucking scary.
