Movies

"Shawshank Redemption" was just plain awesome. In fact it's also among the best of the few Stephen King novels I read (maybe just topped by "Shining"). Also best jail movie along with "Midnight Express".

This is one case where I prefer the movie over the book. THe book was great, yes, but the movie added so much more to the story and the performances by that one guy and Freeman were amazing. Surprising the movie is 3 hours based on a book only 100 pages long.

But yeah, Green Mile the book was a lot better than the movie. But I still thought the movie was solid.

And why does no one ever talk about one of King's best, The Body. Amazing book! But people know it better from the movie, Stand By Me.

In fact "Shawshank" is one of the very few examples of book adaptation where every fucking thing happening into the book is being transcribed onto the screen. So as J. said, 100 pages = 3 hours. So much for producers and directors who strip stories bare of every essence with their whacky editing job. I'd rather no film at all than one ignoring key aspects of a book, be it side events or simply "atmospheric" values. Of course that would mean every adaptation movie would be at least 9 hours long, which is fine by me.

#2 is actually the best IMO. First one was.. meh, third one was pretty good (may just be my perception tho, as I was at the UK premiere, and the atmosphere rocked), but number 2 decided to get a bit more psychological and.. arty, for want of a better word. Pretty decent.

WAITING ... a flick about waiters, some funny teenage romp ... nothing too special

hahahah I found this one pretty funny, yeah nothing special, but as far as lame teen movies go, it was better than most.

I have both Part 2 & the prequel in my queue, I'll get them in due time. Ginger is fucking smoking hot though. Or, err, was.

heh, i remember renting part 1 because on the back it said something about a "sexual appetite". i was like, "YES!" and rented it without reading the rest. after i watched it, i had to wonder, "wait. it said something about 'sexual appetite'. uhm..."

meh, still cool in that wierd 'you can tell this was produced and filmed in canada' kinda way
