Movies

@En Vind: Being a hippie is fine (I guess I should know eh Acai?), I just decided I preferred that you didn't talk to me as if I was actually blind enough to think I was going to change his mind. Is that so wrong?

@Acai: Pleasure doing business with you. (oh fuck does that sound gay?)

Yeah so anyhow, I watched Brokebutt. Pretty decent movie really, I quite liked it. My new chick said she was impressed that I watched it (she was here), but also thought that my little snide comments were to protect my machismo. She is quickly learning that I joke about everything though, haha. Oh yeah and there were two scenes in particular that I found quite extraordinary. Good flick.

PS: my favorite new euphemism for homos is fistlick.

Yea, I didnt mean to come across as condesceding or anything, I really shouldnt be preaching against the expression of free speech in hindsight. I know your an intelligent guy, no disrespect intended. *throws flowers and peace signs and junk*

Hey, dickwads, this is the Movies thread. Go away :)

Haven't posted musings on much here lately, but I did see Layer Cake last night, and what an awful piece of derivative tripe it was. "Hey, look at me, I'm like Snatch, except without anything interesting, clever, or original". I had to apologize to my wife for putting it on our netflix queue.

just watched the end of kill bill 2

man it's a damn great movie but david carradine manages to run the fuck off with it anyway :kickass:

and now i want to go out and get the soundtrack

That Bang Bang Baby (whatever) song fucking rules.

Although I think my favorite Tarantino movie song is Across 110th Street. :kickass:

hell yeah ... i was dating this bint last year that lived on 127th ... had to pass 110th on the way to her house ... use to hum that fucker all the time.

that area is still as gritty as the song ...

Dude seriously, NYC is fucking amazing. I need to visit again.

Zoolander
Some funny parts, mostly lame though. Just what I expected. I'm happy I can finally say "yes I've fucking seen Zoolander" now.

Boondock Saints
For the 312905876th time. Fucking killer movie, still. Not perfect, but just a fuckton of awesomeness.

Also I've thought a lot about Buttback Mountain over the past few days, that really is a great flick on a number of levels, and not just for teaching me ye olde spitfist trick.

Watched Bad Day at Black Rock last evening and found it pretty tepid. Sure, Spencer Tracy is cool and all but the story did nothing for me; way too predictable and even confused at times.

Wild at Heart
Pretty cool, I loved the Wizard of Oz goofiness. Also had one of the best introductions I've ever seen, made me laugh while becoming highly disturbed at the same time.

End of Evangelion
GEE THAT DIDN'T SUCK AT ALL. What the fuck was that shit? The first 40 minutes or so were pretty good with some well done overbudget action sequences, even though it was devoid of the intelligence much of the series retained during such parts. Then the second half... OH MAN. First, the fucking music was awful. Awful! Didn't fit the mood at all, and was grating on the nerves. Second, the characters just felt somehow off. None were completely out of character, but neither did they seem to really gel with how they were all built up throughout the series.

In other words, the original episodes 25 & 26 were VASTLY superior. I know the majority opinion is that those are shit and the movie is proper, but I think those people really didn't get the extremely open-to-interpretation nature that the entire series was based upon. Truth is most certainly subjective in the Evangelion universe, and this movie did not reflect that at all.

PS: I'm currently sporting a Gendo Ikari beard:
