Movies

Watched My Neighbour Totoro last night, and what can I say, this is Studio Ghibli at their best.
Sure, it's a children's movie in some ways and some might find it too sweet, but it is so charming and magical I doubt anyone could see it and not sit there smiling as the sugary end tune comes on :)

I've seen that flick maybe 10 times now. It's one of the few films I can watch with my 4 year old daughter and never 'switch off'. She loves the song too.

Yesterday, the two of us went to the movies to see OVER THE HEDGE. Just an awful, awful film. Both she and I were bored out of our heads.

Luckilly we went to the library and took out KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE and WHISPERS OF THE HEART. Both Studio Ghibli and hopefully aimed at a younger audience.

Both great films, well worth seeing, but the latter is slightly more 'grown-up'. Not sure someone as young as your daughter would enjoy it, at least as much as Totoro or other Ghibli stuff.

OK thanks. We'll start with Kiki then. As she gets older, we can move on to the other releases, such as Spirited Away etc.

Holy shit my spelling in that was apalling.

But yeah, the older she is the more likely she is to appreciate Whisper - it's basically a teenage love story. If you want to see any more Ghibli while you're in London let me know, I have a load of them :) It would be cool... in a gay way.

Wrongfully Accused

Watched it on TV, hooray for bad movies on a lazy Sunday. "Your lies are like bananas! They come in big yellow bunches!"

X-men 3

It was okay, some cool action sequences but overall just another showcase for some special effects. I guess I'll watch Part 2 now since I never saw them shitz. :loco:

I think it was slightly more than that. First off it was a Hollywood movie with no clear good guys and bad guys - you didn't want the humans to win, but you didn't want the mutants to win either really. And that's something when blockbusters usually spoon-feed you exactly what to think. Not only that, I though it had some depth as well - at least, it made me think about the ethics of the issues involved, and had a lot to say about alienation. Plus there were some very cool action sequences :loco:

Having just seen it though, I pretty much agree with you otherwise. It was ok, enjoyable, but nothing amazing. probably one of the better blockbusters this year.

i watched that too, on the same station at the same time. it comforts me that even though we're separated by dozens of leagues and vast tracts of identical-looking overpriced houses, we could still share an incredible experience. it's so romantic!!

The last scene + the post-credits bit was worth it alone. I thought the X-men were stupid when fighting on the human's side, then when they all saw the cure needle things I thought they were going to have a change of heart like "wow they really do hate us" but NO then they just went after Gandalf like stupid automaton goodies.

Evil will always triumph over good, because good is DUMB. :kickass:

I'm going to watch Buttback Mountain tonight. Thoughts to be posted later tonight, perhaps from the Castro District if it really affects me.

yeah curious what you make of it ... i was "curious" to watch it, but the story line does not really interest me, even if it was a hetero couple [/saysguywholovesBeforeSunrise]

Holy fuck do I hate queers. I was buying some steak sandwiches in Santa Monica last night and little did I know that the eatery was adjacent to a Gay Night Club. The dicklickers were out in droves under a pink lamenated sky on this ill fated night. I parked in the post office, with the hopes that no pickle sniffers were using their "loading" dock for other purposes that the name implies. Thankfully all I had seen were rats scrurrying down the alley with chunks of leather hanging from their pronounced jaws. I surveyed the land for the easiest route to the sandwich shop. By the almighty grace of Odin and everything holy and ungay in the cosmos...luck was on my side! The back door to the restaurant's kitchen was ajar. I opened it and entered to the bewilderment of the all heterosexual deli crew. Only one gay to be found inside at the moment. He didn't rape me with eyes, so I tolerated his mentally deformed essence. After 2 minutes I received my phone order and brushed aside process meat packages in the corridor to ride off under a heterosexual sunset. To my dismay I hadnt seen the end of my disgust, as a homosexual was dancing on the sidewalk like Julie Andrews, as his life partner Pierre took snapshots of his flailing limbs. Needless to say I returned horrified. I fucking Hate Queers!!!!!!! Does this make me a bad person?!?!? Fuck you if you say it does! [/endrant]
