Hudsucker is my favorite Coen Bros movie. Sure sure.

mine too.

last movie watched was the ALIEN director's cut

I don't know what was different between the director's cut and regular version, but this watching reaffirmed that Alien is an incredible movie, so the director's cut couldn't have screwed things up too bad like the last horrendous director's cut I watched, Dune.

Hellsing is pretty silly, and not very good at all. It has this childish and unserious aura which permeates most of the episodes and which really turns me off. The female main characters is such a boring twat I hated and loathed her from the frist time she opened her mouth. Also, the animators' attempt at creating an english "gothic" atmosphere with misty heaths and castles is a laughable and utter failure. And finally the soundtrack is so unfitting I thought it was some kind of joke the first time I heard it

Not cool, and not even his big gun can save him

Yea Hellsing and Akira are both very overrated in my opinion. To be honest I dont watch much anime anymore though, so Im not really up on the current favourites among the genre.

Yeah, I'll agree with Hellsing being way overrated but not Akira. And come on, Alucard is cool even if the show isn't.

*SPOILER*
How can you not like when he melts that huge silver cross with his hair and then shoots it to impale that dude at the end?
*END SPOILER*

I still suggest people check out Monster, Mushishi, Texhnolyze, and Planetes. I think those four would be great for anybody.

Monster

Kenzou Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon in Germany, had it all: incredible skill at his work, a rich and beautiful fiancee, and a promising career at his hospital. However, after becoming disenchanted by hospital politics, he chose to save the life of a young boy who got shot in the head over the life of the mayor. As a result he lost the support of the hospital director, as well as his position in the hospital and his fiance. A short time later, the hospital director and the doctors that replaced him were murdered, and once again he was catapulted back onto the top. But as the chief suspect of the murders, Tenma did not get a easy life. As a matter of fact, it seems that the boy he saved was much more than he had appeared to be... Now to clear his name and to correct his past mistake, Tenma must get to the bottom of these and other murders, and investigate the truth of the Monster who is behind all of this.

Mushishi

They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi".

Texhnolyze

In a man-made underground society, descendants of a banished generation vie for control of the crumbling city of Lux. Ichise, an orphan turned prize fighter, loses a leg and an arm to satisfy an enraged fight promoter. On the brink of death he is taken in by a young woman doctor and used as a guinea pig for the next evolution of Texhnolyze. With his new limbs, Ichise is taken under the wing of Oonishi, a powerful leader of Organ, an organization with some hold on Lux. As Ichise is drawn deeper into a war for territorial control of the city, he learns of his possible future from the young girl prophet Ran, who guides him from the shadows in his darkest times. With the explosion of the warfare, Ichise must uncover the truth about Lux and fight for his survival as he realizes his destiny.

Planetes

In the year 2075, mankind has reached a point where journeying between Earth, the moon and the space stations is part of daily life. However, the progression of technology in space has also resulted in the problem of the space debris, which can cause excessive and even catastrophic damage to spacecrafts and equipment. This is the story of Technora's Debris Collecting section, its EVA worker, Hachirota "Hachimaki" Hoshino, and the newcomer to the group, Ai Tanabe.

Anime is just kind of meh. I try only to watch it in movie form. But there are a couple of series I watch; Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lane, and some Gundam ones.

I think I wanna get a MASH box-set.

That + Taxi are two shows I never watched because the intro music fuckin' pissed me off so much. Once I got passed that though, they both rule, MASH much more so, though.

CAUSE SUICIIIIIIIDE IS PAINLESSSSSSSSSS

Wtf those are the lyrics? Awsome. I guess the music just anoyed me, haha.

well the movie version had lyrics, they were too awesome/depressing for the tv show so they used an instrumental version, unfortunately.

It's a great song when used with the lyrics:

Through early morning fog I see visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me I realize and I can see . . .
That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

I try to find a way to make all our little joys relate
Without that ever-present hate but now I know that it’s too late,

and . . .That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

The game of life is hard to play. I’m gonna lose it anyway.

The losing card I’ll someday lay so this is all I have to say.

That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

The only way to win is cheat and lay it down before I’m beat,

and to another give my seat for that’s the only painless feat.

That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

The sword of time will pierce our skins it doesn’t hurt when it begins

But as it works its way on in the pain grows stronger . . . watch it grin, but . . .
That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.

A brave man once requested me to answer questions that are key
'Is it to be or not to be' and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
That suicide is painless it brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.
And you can do the same thing if you choose.

I actually just dropped the whole thing after a watching a couple of episodes of a show called Chobits or some crap like that...

But every now and then, I get a fix idea that I'm gonna get around to it and watch some, but it hasn't happened yet... Perhaps I'll check out this Hellsing thing and see if I like the concept, and if I do, I'll see if I can find this OVA thing of which you speak?

What's a OVA, by the way?
Try not to watch such a gay one next time.

I forget exactly what "OVA" stands for, but it's basically a mini-series.

I think the soundtrack is great. The composer said he was going for something that would kind of clash with the rest of the show.

"Cowboy Bebop" is fucking awesome. One of the best anime ever and probably THE BEST English dub ever.

Watched "Anchorman" and "Seed of Chucky" tonight. "Anchorman" was enjoyably funny. "Seed of Chucky" was extremely lame/cheesy and stupid, but it made me laugh. I didn't really expect it to be good. I don't know why my girlfriend rented it.

Well he succeeded, that's for sure; but what's the point of having a sound track for a blood driping vanmpire series, that would work wonders for any sit com? I mean what do you want to accomplish? Not that I'm asking you to defend his work, it's just that I don't get it

I went and saw "Ice Age 2" in the cheap theater today. Power went out during the movie so I didn't get to see the whole thing. Got free movie passes though. From what I saw, I liked the first one better, though there were some cool scenes.

Rented "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" and "High Tension". "Advent Children" was pretty cool. Great animation, nice soundtrack, cool battle scenes, and an okay storyline. Also some funny moments.

"High Tension" was displeasing. It really didn't make much sense. One of those twist endings, but executed badly, in my opinion.
