"A Night in the Museum"
This was alright. I enjoyed it. Pretty funny for the most part. Good, wholesome entertainment.

"The Haunting"

Yes, indeed. One of the greatest horror movies of all time. NAD would agree.

As for The Descent, I'm with dill on this one. I thought it was great. My ambivalence towards the characters made it all the more of a bleak experience for me, which is what I was expecting from the opening sequence. Don't know what else to tell you Descent-haters; maybe watch something other than horror, because this movie was brilliant in nearly all aspects of the genre.

Amityville Horror (2005): watchable. Mildly scary even. However, I've grown weary of the scare-effects made popular seven years ago by 2000's House on Haunted Hill.

Thank You for Smoking drastically overrated. I expected uproarious laughter and all I got was a few chuckles. "You destroyed all the goodwill you created by your kidnapping" was a great line though

Scoop Woody Allen churns them out like clockwork and his best stuff is 30 years old now but this was quite enjoyable. On par with Match Point which I thought was decent. Scarlett Johanssen looked pretty good in both movies..............................which is basically the only reason I rented them. Let's be honest here.

smoked a fatty boom-batty blunt and watched borat last night, my buddy's dad works for lucasfilm and has an advance copy for oscar voting

The first 40 minutes before they reach the cave is like watching a bad MTV reality show. No character development whatsoever. Good horror to me is a movie that sucks you in and has you pulling for the protagnist's survival. I was apathetic towards the whole lot of them and eventually started rooting for the "smeagles" to annihilate them cackling hyenas. The main character turning from being on the verge of a nervous break down in to being John Rambo in a span of one hour, achieved nothing more than making the villainous Barakas look weak.

I won't even bother mentioning the ending. How fucking putrid. :Puke:

2 severed thumbs way down.

I mostly agree with it all ... MTV style first 40 minutes, annoying chicks that I all wanted to die, cheese factor ...

BUT

the cinematography ruled, haven't seen anything as good since Silence of The Lambs where it ads so much to the creepiness.

and the ending ruled as well ... big time.

definetelly left me creeped out. great stuff!

Superman Returns

Why does everyone hate this movie? It was good for what it is. I thought Brandon Routh did an exceptional job as Supes. Gene Hackman is a much more able Lex Luthor, though. Not so sure I bought into Supes having a son, because wouldn't he have "blown a load right through Lois Lane's back"?

Certainly better than Supes 3 and the atrocious "so bad it's good" Quest for Peace.

There was quite a few decent movies in 2006 (plus older ones that I only just got around to watch).

Pan's Labyrinth won hands down in the #1 spot. I'd go as far as saying it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Powerful stuff, with some shockingly violent scenes and a genuinely heartbreaking ending. Go and see it!

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer was one I was dreading as a fan of the book, but it turned out far better than I could have expected. For a supposedly "unfilmable" story (Kubrick wouldn't touch it for that reason), it ended up as a wonderfully creative visual experience, almost making up for the sheer lack of smell that necessitates the telling.

Borat was everything I hoped it to be. Highlights were the subtle stuff like the bear's head in the fridge and the amputee with the latex fist ducktaped to his stump at the end. Pure gold :)

Dirty Sanchez basically turned up the Jackass worship another notch, and the scene with the liposuction fat was both funny and hideous in equal measure. I can only imagine it's a matter of time before one of these guys ends up dead! Jackass 2 was more entertaining and the "fart helmet" scene gave me my biggest laugh of the year (along with pretty much the entire series of "Strutter" on MTV UK).

I saw a whole lot of other stuff too, but I'm bored of writing now :)

Just got done viewing Fellini's 8 1/2. Claudia Cardinale is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.

just watched Rocky Balboa, I really liked it and I recommend it to all of you. Cept m00se, cause he'll probably find something to whine about.

remember when Clark had sex with lois after he turned into a human?
Gene Hackman was not a true Luthor. Spacey was good because he was evil and wanted a shitload of power. thats true to the comic.

watched Invincible lastnight with my parents, it was pretty good.

"Lady in the Water" was pretty interesting. Very strange movie.

I was watching some really horrible Freddy Krueger move last night.

I saw "The Devil Wears Prada" last night. I found it about as enjoyable as sawing my head off with a blunt chainsaw.
