Movies

I really want to see Princess Mononoke, especially since I loved (in a seriously gay way) Spirited Away.

yes spirited away seems to be really awesome as well, i've decided to finally pick it up at the local renter tomorrow. it's a shame it's so hard to find high quality anime, i know it's out there but it's really no use asking a serious anime freak since they seem to enojoy anything that's japanese and animated, and the skeptics like myself have only seen the most know acclaimed productions :|

this one should be really enojoyable http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347246/ the prequel was kick ass. this one's been recomended to me by reliable people http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0275230/ seen it?

I went and saw the Cowboy Bebop movie a few years ago having never even heard of the series. One of the finest movies I've ever seen. Still haven't watched any of the series though.

Haven't heard of those two, spaffe. I've probably seen about 12 anime flicks in my life though. :loco:

I couldn't make it through Trainspotting. Don't know. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood, but watching some dude swim down his toilet and then see a dude sleeping on sheets he shat on and then seeing a dead baby (wasn't that a dead drugged up baby or something?) was not my idea of a good movie.

I did like Snatch, though. Haven't seen Two Smoking Barrels.

abstract.

humour.

withdrawal.

Club culture, drug culture, etc. Irvine Welsh is a great author, the stuff I've read is fantastic. Glaswegian street culture is so off the wall, it's tough to get your head round it even if you're from South England. I doubt if this translates over to the American audience at all. I even heard that some US movie theaters had to dub or subtitle it.

Oh and using Lou Reed in the cold-turkey segment was just genius. "Perfect day" is such a sweet song in that whole scene.

For a while, I thought this was the greatest movie ever. And then I watched Snatch.
Honestly I cannot decide which is better. I think Lock Stock has a better story (barely), but Snatch makes a better use of celluloid. Either way both films are fucking BRILLIANT and they just get better every time I watch them.
I'm just going to make an assumption that you've seen Trainspotting by now.
I'm a dirty smelly bint. *hides*

Yeah finally watched that one a few weeks ago. It was okay, I had hoped for more.

really? it think it's extremly good; it's dark, gory, has great scenery and a good story. btw i noticed www.play.com had some really cheap anime dvds which will probably be ordered soon; akira, ghost in the shell, spirited away, mononoke, arij(something) dojie :)
thought i'd mention it in case your looking for some of them

Ghost in the Shell was pretty cool, I just wasn't floored with it like Cowboy Bebop. At the end of the huge story buildup I just kinda said "...oh." at the end.

I have been meaning to pick a lot of those up for several years, but just don't have the cash. :)

One I really want to see is Evangaleon (sp?), the one that the Best. Videogame. EVAR. Xenogears was based on.

TRAINSPOTTING is pure genius. I happend to be in London when it was originally released there and saw it in the theater. Seeing it with a British crowd certainly made the experience better ...

Brilliant movie I have seen dozens of times ...

i've seen some of the neon genesis evangelion series which was standard gaudy and loud-voiced anime with a little kid and an enormous robot, pretty dull. or are talking about some movie with the same name?

Oh that sucks, yes we're talking about the same thing. Odd, because the videogame series is extremely serious and thought provoking about the nature of god and man. I recently went through Xenogears again and was floored like I was 6 years ago, except by the shitty translation. :loco:

Over the last weekend I saw:
Old Boy
Switchblade Romance
The Toolbox Murders (2003 version)
The Tesseract
Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt
The I Inside
Hellboy
Monster Man
Buppah Rahtree
Code 46
The Ordeal
Ginger Snaps Back
The Eye 2
One Point 0
The Hillside Strangler
Casshern
The Machinist

And the shorts:
Rex Steele Nazi Smasher
Xchange
Who
Another Brick in the wall
In The Hermit's Lair
The Other
Love from Mother Only

Some were good, some were mediocre, some were crap :)
