Movies

saw two movies this past week ... both were a big surpirse

SPANGLISH ... this one blew me away. the cast was flawless, even Sandler, whom I normally hate was great. But Paz Vega ... maron ... i love her

SIDEWAYS ... great stuff again ... good story ... nothing new ... played like an extended Seinfeld episode. Not sure why this was Oscar nominated though ...

I'll be watching Sideways soon enough.

Watched Manchurian Candidate. It was pretty good. The ending was a little too "clean" for me, but it kept me watching and wondering.

Sideways

Not what I was expecting, very cool either way. That's all there is to say I guess. I think it's about time for me to get into wine at least.

"At one point I had to cut through an ostrich farm. Those fuckers are mean!"

Saw American Psyco the other day, I enjoyed it but felt....dissatisfied. I mean I really like pretty much all of it, and Bale is brilliant, but it seemed underwritten. I haven't read the novel but from what I've heard they could have made it far more OTT and twisted without bringing the gore too much. Though as a heavy handed satire/black comedy it worked well.

I saw this recently as well. I thought it was entertaining. This movie made Thomas Haden CHurch a star, having pretty much secured the spot as the villian in the next SPider-Man movie. I thought his Sideways character was funny as hell, but way too one dimensional (I wanna get laid!). Paul Giamatti (sp?) was good as well, but also too one dimensional (oh, poor me). I'm not sure where all the Oscar talk came from. The film was not that emotional and characters didn't "grow" at all in this film about the troubles of middle age.

However, that one scene where Paul G's character had to steal the wallet was so fucking funny.

"Yeah, the husband came home while I had my dick in her ass." :dopey:

I was under the impression that most people disliked it for some reason. Probably because of the bad reviews it got.

I'm a fan of Richard Gere, though, so I suppose that helped. :)

I, Robot
Wow! I was very impressed with this movie! I read the Asimov books right before this one came out, and I must say they were very faithful to the ideas of his work (it was one of those adapted from the books types).

Hotel Rwanda
This was about the 4th movie that ever made me cry. That is all.

Shades Of X

A beautiful story about human relationships, tenderness and love. Not only is the "Man meets woman"-story way above average, it is also an important contribution in the whole "Is homosexuality (between women) a sin?" debate. A big plus for the satiric attack on the anti-bigamists out there.
