Movies

Also you can just "feel" Kubrick in that movie.
Definitely. I just think the last section, while perfectly okay, just ruined the flow and feel of the whole movie for me. Even if I did think the aliens were cool looking. :loco:

I agree about the ending of AI, totally ruined the movie. Him underwater was the perfect ending.

I actually just watched both Gangs of New York and The Aviator. I thought they were both good, but not fantastic. Bill the Butcher was an interesting character for sure.

Also saw Hotel Rwanda and The Sea Inside. Both excellent but depressing.

I just saw Batman - The Beginning, or some crap like that. Those comic films are normally atrocious, and this was no exception, but Liam Neeson is my favorite actor! He could've even saved Kingdom of Heaven if they'd given him some more time...

Batman Begins... personally I think all of the Superhero movies are total bullshit- but this one just fucking rocked. And yes, Liam Neeson is THE MAN.

FITZCARRALDO ... the man pulls a steamship over a mountain ... WTF ??????!!!!! and no special effects ...

have not finished watching it yet, although Klaus Kinsky, the lead, is one spooky looking fucker.

ok, I finally saw Star Wars III.

I can't tell if I liked it or hated it. Some of the parts were so terrible that I wanted to get up and leave, but other parts were awesome and partially negated the bad parts. Tied things together pretty good though.

I was watching the interview thingy for a few minutes, I liked how Lynch said he didn't know where he got the idea for Eraserhead, then later clarified: "I have no recollection of writing the script." :tickled:

But yeah, I'm sure there are people out there that have thousand page dissertations on Lynch films, when the purpose behind a scene was probably him just thinking "whoa this is gonna be cool HEHEHEHEHEEEHEHEHEHEHEHHH"

hahaha! yeah I watched a bit of it too on the DVD, didn't find it that interesting so I just kept skipping ahead and checking it out now and then... but yeah when asked why a certain something was the way it was, lynch basically said, "well we just tried something random, and it looked pretty cool, so we kept it!!!!"

but that movie freaked me the hell out, man
and now back again to why I like lynch's movies, because he does a fantastic job with twisting reality way the fuck out there and yet "keepin' it real".. as in still full of feeling and emotion.

mullholland drive is really wierd (and bad). my fury over having been duped into watching it was negated only by the nudity.

Lost Highway

Well I've had the soundtrack for about 8 years, but just watched this for the first time. All I have to say is: "huh?"

did you go on a Lynch marathon or something? holy crap .. :loco:

saw IN GOOD COMPANY ... hmm ... was actually enjoyable cheese.

and NATIONAL TREASURE ... this one was surprisingly good.

Dune should be in my mailbox tomorrow. After that I think I'm done with Lynch for awhile, shit is making me go: :hypno:

If you enjoy Lynch, try Luis Bunuel (that's an "n" with a ~; didn't know how to type that right). Early twentieth century surrealistic filmmaker from Spain. His counterpart in poetry was Lorca and in art was Salvador Dali (who collaborated on films with him). The opening scene of Un Chien Andalou is as f'ed up, if not more, than any Lynch shitz. Even more f'ed up is the story behind filming that scene (if anyone has seen it already).
