Mr. V, some questions about the new album please!

Oh god such wonderful Andreas goodness coming soon! I can't wait for Waterclime. Astral Factor spoke so strongly to my center, I can't wait for that kind of musical connection again.

The next big question is, what is Mattias doing?

Where is TME these days?

I guess that the TME album is out? Title: Worlds Collide

He's also involved in guitar design....so we've been busy as always but still I've written some Vintersorg material as well, sounds very promising..,,and for the question about the guitar sound..it's a bit of a combination..all the rhythm stuff is made with a V-amp and solos and melodies with PODand software of various types.

Sounds cool! The few songs I've heard from TME sounds very promising. Hehe, I love the fact that there are new V-songs written when the album only has been out a month or so :headbang:

Excellent! I have to get the TME album, I liked the songs on the myspace a lot! New Vintersorg!!!! Hooray! I love that your amp is called a V-amp. V's everywhere!!!

Wow, I just did some research on the V-amp! So you used a V-amp and POD, that means you recorded all with direct input? No miced amplifiers! Very interesting, you really utilize modern technology!

Well, I like both ways to do it..but as we recorded at our own studios it was the best solution..I can't use my guitar amp/stack in my apartment..hehehe

Well, again, you deserve praise and commendations. So many people bad mouth things like the POD and programmed drums as being sterile and inorganic sounding, but you have proven with this album that they don't have to sound that way. Your drums on this album sound more natural that some real drummers (like all the extreme drummers these days who trigger their drums to the point where they sound completely programmed) and your guitar tones are top notch, definitely my favorite guitar tones in years to be perfectly honest!

Thanks for this album! You never seem to fail!

definately the best drum programming mr. v has accomplished. But since I am me, I always have to pick at something. The only thing that really makes the programming noticeable is the misplacement of cymbal crashes(meaning a few of them dont lock into the kick drum or snare). I definately give mr. v props for his efforts on this new album, that is one hardworking musician! Thank you Mattias and Andreas...keep the tunes coming!

All the programmings have an intention..of course cymbals and kick are essential togheter but I also like to use different methods to reach a crescendo for example...or to let cymbals mark specific keyboards noted while kick and snare match the guitars..everything has a purpose. For me it's all about making adventurous music.

So you're telling that even if you crap up the cymbal work, its because "it has a purpose" :Smug: ;)

Just picking on you, V

YOU RULE and this lats album KICKS ASSES

Cant wait for Waterclime and Cronian :headbang:

One thing I really like is your use of the hi-hats. Most drummers just keep that constant throughout beats, but you constantly programmed these little bursts and spurts and patterns and it's very very unique and awesome!

I feel that hihat and snare are the two essential pieces that also is most sensitive when it comes to programming. Of course all the other stuff is very important too, but snare rolls is much more sensitive than everything else..Ever heard the machine gun-effect on badly programmed stuff?hehehehe

I try to think as a drummer and never do impossible acts, a drummer often opens and closes the hihat while playing and hits it very differently when it comes to velocity and where the hit is places on the metal.

That's true (LOL).the bass drum's machinegunning is a classic in the programmed drums... like forefather's first album, Vader's Litany or any Morbid Angel album. That happened a little in Hedniskjärtad too :p

On TF, ÖS and CG the drums sounds programmed, but it fits very well in those albums, specially CG.

About this, that drummer you thought was benny? I say this cause when I heard SR the sound is similar to Fission's Crater (obvioulsly better) but for a while I really believed benny was the drummer... it's more progresive style but the sounds you used in are very similar. Congrats, great job and AWESOME ALBUM!!!!! As I said before, the best release since CG.

Now I can understand why Asgeir didn't played in this album, thanx

By the way, how has going your studies? (if you're not offended by my question of course)

You're probably not speaking about the Beringer V-Amp? I got one of those myself but it doesn't sound nearly as tough and thick as the guitars on Solens Rötter, even if I imagine it without a good production. Anyway, seems like a good sound always melts all of all the elements: software, recording rack, amp, guitar itself, even the strings. Something like that. ;)

EXACTLY!!!! God, I feel like you're the only perso who programs drums who understands this! That is why I was so so so so so impressed with Waterclime and Solens Rotter programming. The snare is so impressively natural sounding.

Your programming has intimidated and inspired me so much. It just seems so impossibly difficult to achieve, but you did do it! I just can't seem to get such real sounding stuff out of Reason though. What sequencing program do you use??
