what are virgin black up to lately? i only have their first album and the ep they released before that...some really great tunes on that one...the museum of iscariot, for instance. man, what a crushing atmoshphere that song has! and two incredibly emotional guitar solos on that track!

For My Fallen Angel by My Dying Bride just MAY be the most saddest damn song I have ever heard. It honestly sounds like a song that'd be written for a funeral or someone's passing. God...it's just so sad...the lyrics even - aye - haunting.

Yes, this song is very very beautiful. so minimalistic yet it works soo well.

...and nothing after that?

This reminds me...I hear Virgin Black is readying their 3rd release for THIS YEAR. Apparently the band says it is going to be a masterpiece from what I read somewhere utilizing a huge orchestra even for more dramatic classical influences. I CAN'T WAIT!

In fact, put this album right up there with Katatonia and Novembre for me for this year.

Not many talk about it for the band is hardly "known."

Sombre and Elegant are both masterfully done. Amazing music, no doubt. I think elegant takes the slight edge overall for tracks such as Our Wings Are Burning and Beloved....god that album is fantastic.
