My best mix finished (Panic Room Master, Guitarhack Reamp)

Thanks a heap guys. I'm glad most of you are digging it. I really hope the band manage to get some exposure on the back of it!

I just got the final finals from Plec and they clip a little less on those chords. Hopefully not noticeable to the fans.

As far as the loud overheads go... well, I'm a big fan of Clayman, as are the guys, haha. Those little things kind of add 'character' to me.

@Morgoe: By block pattern I mean just the way the audio regions look in ProTools after I've done all the dubs. It cruises along in a line of one straight take, or a 2 straight doubletracked takes, and then it expands to 3 or 4 on the big shouts and emphasized passages. So it kinda turns into a stacked 'block'.

Don't worry about loud overheads man. I think loud overheads sound great for this sort of stuff, and I am always accused of having them too loud but whatever.

Yikes! There's a lot of clipping, and not just in the beginning. There's tons of clipping when the tom break comes in, and in tons of other places. I think it's a bit TOO loud! This is a really good mix, and it's somehow being a litttle cramped by all the crazy mastering. Digital clipping is never a pretty sound.

However, I wasn't very fond of the kick and the sample replacement could probably have been a bit smoother sounding. Great job with the kind of source you got though :)

Loud overheads FTW! Lovely bass tone, and LOVELY vocal production! Wow. And brutal as fuck guitar tone!

Very very bad drumming btw. He doesn't know how to hit cymbals at all. You can hear stick tips hitting the cymbal in almost every groove where he's crashing during the groove (???). Yuck. A soft drummer in a metal band is like a porn star with no boobs, no ass, and stick think legs!

I still think it's too loud to be honest, but apart from that listening through my stereo, my crappy computer speakers and my active monitors it seems to translate well to all 3 of them which is quite a good sign.

only thing i could point my finger on is that there seems to be some problems with the kick/toms editing in the middlepart (have no seconds on my quicktime player, sorry)
those distracted me a little, but im very picky :)

but the mix is amazing amazing amazing!

props for the grind in the bass!

I think the mix is better. I think some of the vocals are too loud now though. Also, there's a lot of clipping during the beginning section that is bothering me.

That was actually the only part in the song that wasn't edited hit-by-hit, so it gives you a bit of an insight into how the drums sounded before that!

@Greyanoroth: Good call. You pretty much gleaned a very accurate insight into the source tracks. Good ear.
