So, the only way I'm able to post this right now is because I'm in Safe mode with networking.

I left my computer on last night, and I'm pretty sure my friend got on my computer... I woke up and the desktop was changed and has a really obnoxious message saying "YOU HAVE A VIRUS!! DOWNLOAD A VIRUS REMOVER BLAH BLAH BLAH"

Also, whenever I try to open ANYTHING, the bottom right hand toolbar says "You cannot open because ____ is infected. Please download blah blah blah"

Please help.. :(

Haha. Thanks.

Will system restore do anything to lose any files? I don't want to lose anything! :zipit:

It will restore from the last point the system saved a restore point. Your data will still be there, but if you've installed anything after the last restore point, you may have to reinstall it.

Go into System Restore and it should tell you when the last save was.

But, before you do that, get a scanner and do a full system scan.

I don't understand how people still get viruses? Even by going to porn sites... how do you people get them?! Windows 7 x64 with Microsoft Security Essentials + Spybot + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is all you need.

Ok, did a system restore.. At first my desktop was normal, but after about a minute I got fucked again.. Spose' it's time to bust out Malwarebytes??

That's a pretty common virus, It just appears to be harmful, but actually it's just a way to make you buy a software to "fix" this. don't worry all your files are safe. Check in google for that exact case and I'm pretty sure there are come remover tools to fix it.

Get flashdrive.

Make RIPLinux pendrive.

Fix it with available AV tools.

Malwarebytes are a bunch of tools for not supporting this method. I would have bought the Linux version that could run checks on a windows partition.

you may not have restored back far enough ... and yeah, if you were able to run a system scan with MWB or something similar before you should have :p

Virus free since 2004/5 (when I got my first Mac). Ah the life. :p

Seriously though, hope you get it sorted, sucks when that shit happens.

download rkill and then get malware bytes, that fuckin virus pops its self on to my laptop everynow and then. this will fix it.

Virus free since 2005, with a PC, because I learned not to be completely retarded with a computer. C'mon guys, don't pull off the Mac card. =\

I've seen a similar virus before, you should have no problem getting rid of it. I recommend having Avast! and Malwarebytes running and updated on your computer at all times though.

Even though it's working now I'd still run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode to be sure. The virus is most likely still on the machine.
