What can I do? The girlfriend I love and adore doesn't seem to like prog much. She even teases me (kindly) about the lyrics. How can I woo her to our side?

[ And no, I'm NOT getting a new one. I want to marry this one. :) ]

My GF like Pull me Under, Another Day and Starchild of all the progsongs i have.
I think Luca Turilli too.

but no SX :(

she likes manowar, ac/dc, marylyn manson and kiss :)

Um... who cares? So she doesn't like your music. Big deal. If you were John Petrucci or someone, and your girlfriend didn't like prog, it would matter, but... really, is it that big of a deal? None of my friends like it, and I still hang out with them.

And if you really wanna convert her, have her listen to the songs you know chicks would like, like "Another Day."

Well on one hand, if you really love her, it shouldn't matter if she doesn't like it. However, I know how important it can be to some people, because I know I will not marry anyone that doesn't like this kind of metal, only because it's hard for me to relate to someone who doesn't. You obviously can, so try not to worry too much.

Accept it. You can't have ALL the same interests. ;)

It's a lot less common now, but I remember going to prog metal type shows in the past (I'm talking 5-10 years ago) and being a) one of comparatively few females and b) one of even fewer females that hadn't been obviously dragged there by her boyfriend and was standing there with a glazed look. Although now that I think about it, if there isn't a big name draw, I'm *still* one of few females; there were hardly any at BWBK last year, and I don't expect there to be many at the Chicago Powerfest this month, either. Things that make you go hmm.

Oh well, bigger selection for me. :D

Tie her up......play 'her type of music' whilst you slap her and give her papercuts and poor lemon juice on them......wait say 30 mins and put on some progrock whilst feeding her chocolate, massaging her and combing her hair......30 minutes later go through the Timberlake-and-torture routine again etc etc etc.

After a few days or weeks you should have successfully conditioned your woman to like prog......

My Mrs doesn't like much prog either but she likes Ozzy, Van Halen, Whitesnake,
T-Ride etc so i can deal with it.

It doesn't matter if she likes it or not. Would just be a little extra bonus. :)

I love her so much, you guys gotta realize.

Think of it this way...when you're married, and you two get in a squabble...you can always blare some Prog at her just to get under her skin a little more muh ah ah ahaaa :)

HAHAHA!!:tickled:

Now thats the right way of thinking of it..
GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

Shame it doesn't work like that for me, My hubby and I like almost ALL the same music. But thats one thing I do LOVE about him..hehe!

I agree to the death metal statement above.

However, I do know some guys/gals/fauna that just can't get the essence of rock'n roll - so there is no sense to 'explain' prog unless you're asked. Moreover, the same people won't stand a fantasy or mythology story, save abstract lyrics. Some of these people are pure jewels of wisdom, love (in all types) and fun.

What I am tyring to tell you is that there is ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE in trying to convert her (or anyone). If your beloved (or friend) wants guidance, you MUST grant it. Otherwise, don't mess with their heads (lost friends that way :( ).

P.S. I just hope my advice halps ya. I'm having trouble with making sense, even in Bulgarian. I just hope I don't turn in some Weikath or Tolkki as I get older. :D
